Since she's starring in CBS' Matlock reboot, Kathy has been under a microscope lately, and she previously talked about losing weight through diet and exercise changes. However, there's been a lot of speculation that she used medication to lose weight, too.

“There’s been a lot of talk that I just was able to do this because of Ozempic, but I have to impress upon people out there that this was hard work for me, especially during the pandemic,” she told People. “It’s very hard to say you’ve had enough.”

Kathy didn't share what made her decide to use Ozempic, or whether she's still taking the medication.

Kathy was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes in 2017, which was a wakeup call. “[Diabetes] runs in my family, and I'd seen what my father had gone through,” she said. “He had had a leg amputation. One of my sisters is dealing with it very seriously, and it terrified me. It scared me straight."

So, Kathy says she started listening to her body's cues about food. "When we’re full, we experience an involuntary sigh,” she said. “I just pushed the plate away.”

Kathy also said that she changed her diet. “I used to eat terribly: burgers and Cokes and pizza,” she said. She also stopped eating after 8 o'clock at night.

But that didn't mean she totally restricts herself. "We’ve been having trucks come to the lot over at Paramount to thank the crew, and yesterday we had Pink’s Hot Dogs. Oh, my God, I hadn’t had a hot dog in such a long time," she says. "Today, I’m getting back on my track."

Kathy previously said that she feels great after her weight loss, adding that she now has more stamina at work. “It’s helped me tremendously that, over the last six or seven years, I’ve lost 100 pounds,” she told Variety. “I don’t think I’ve been this slim since I was in college.”
