Julia Fox reps the bum cleavage trend going commando in lace-up back jeans
It's hard to miss a Julia Fox fashion moment. Whenever the actress/model/author steps out, she does so dressed to the nines, so it's little wonder the paparazzi always capture her ensembles. And yet, we somehow failed to notice Julia's latest look. Cue the gasps. Especially when we say it's *so* Julia, AKA trend-led and slightly controversial.
To attend the Mother, Daughter, Holy Spirit runway show – a fundraising event for the Trans Justice Funding Project – in New York on Saturday night [29 March], Julia's attire may at first have seemed remarkably casual, not to mention modest, for a woman who is infamous for her quirky style that routinely features naked elements. Her medieval-esque lace-up basque top with seriously cleavage-boosting properties, paired with washed grey jeans featuring multiple punctures, stayed true to the ‘jeans and a nice top’ outfit formula we would have thought was too basic a look for Julia to turn to.
Julia was in attendance at the event as she was one of several celebrities who donated pieces from their personal wardrobes for the show, alongside designer contributions. Just because she wasn't on the catwalk, she didn't fail to have a show-stopping moment when she turned around to reveal the back of her outfit. Yep, despite initial appearances and an admittedly “meh” response from ourselves, turns out Julia was going commando in the jeans as she flashed her butt crack in the denim that laced up at the back.
This is hardly the first time Julia has repped the bum-cleavage trend. Back in December 2024 and to attend the opening of a new art exhibition, she wore a chainmail dress crafted from hundreds of thousands of jump rings that took 700 hours (!!) to hand-weave together. Perhaps that's why Catholic Guilt, the brand responsible, left a prettttty big cut-out positioned right at the centre of her posterior.
A year prior, in October 2023, she opted for an even cheekier look in black leggings with a heart-shaped cut-out at the butt.
And way, waaay back in June 2022, proving she's ever ahead of the curve, Julia was one of the first to green-light the trend in a grey Alejandre coordinating set of underboob-baring cut-out top and cut-out lace-up, bum-cleavage cargo trousers.
Other celebrities to get in on the trend include Katy Perry, who has twice repped the look in a thong-flashing lace-up skirt and bum crack-baring lace-up leather trousers.
Unsurprisingly, the bum cleavage trend isn't taking over quite the same way as naked dressing. Time will tell if other A-lists follow suit.
