Jennifer Lopez makes the case for natural-looking hair extensions
While celebrities such as Priyanka Chopra and Elle Fanning have embraced shorter bob haircuts in recent months, Jennifer Lopez is leaning back into her longer lengths with hair extensions.
Lopez has long been the inspiration for glossy, sunkissed brunette locks, a look that is undoubtedly achieved with some cleverly concealed extensions. But after a short stint with chest-length hair, it's clear that the singer and actress is returning to her Rapunzel-esque tresses longer lengths – this time with a modern twist.
Lopez made an appearance at a campaign rally in Las Vegas, where she gave a speech in support of presidential candidate Kamala Harris, saying: "I am a mother. I am a sister. I am an actress, and I like Hollywood endings, and I like it when the good guy, or in this case the good girl, wins."
For the event, the Unstoppable star wore a fitted caramel-colour dress with matching sandals. Her waist-length, highlighted hair was styled with soft waves and plenty of volume.
One week earlier, she attended the American Film Institute Festival, and hairstylist Chris Appleton gave her a slightly sleeker finish that feels decidedly grown-up and polished.
"Never underestimate the power of a blowout," he wrote on Instagram. "We wanted the focus of the hair to be the length and colour."
According to Appleton, his aim was to "make it as shiny and as light in texture as possible, giving it an effortless feeling", and he achieved it by creating a '90s style blow-dry with soft movement and ends that curled inwards for that clean, classic vibe.
The gentle waves perfectly show off Lopez' honey-hued tresses and brighter, face-framing lengths.
According to Hadley Yates, whose namesake Covent Garden salon focuses provides elevated hair extensions, keratin-bond extensions are best for creating that sophisticated effect in the long-term.
“These extensions can be completely customised and made super tiny and seamless,” he explains. “Over the past couple of years, I have developed a hair 'filler' service that is now a signature Hadley Yates offering and is great for anyone looking for subtle or ‘believable’ extensions.
“Using this filler technique means that I can use minimal hair with maximum results, and can achieve polished styles that don’t look like your traditional extensions.”
Depending on your style, it can last up to six months – a worthy investment, especially if you've always dreamed of Lopez-style lengths.
