As someone who loves a hearty, savory breakfast, it should come as no surprise that I love an English muffin. Whether they’re functioning as the base of an eggs Benedict or as a side of toast to slather butter and/or jam on, I can’t get enough of them. As such, I’ve eaten a lot of them in my life. Though I don’t buy them every week from the grocery store, I do love having them around to toast up and eat alongside my morning eggs. And while I do appreciate the ones I get from the grocery store, I’ve recently tried some from Wolferman’s Bakery that have shown me just how great English muffins can be.

On Wolferman’s Bakery’s website, you can find a variety of English muffins in flavors like cornmeal, cherry blossom, chocolate chocolate chip, and cheddar cheese. They all sound utterly delicious, but the one that I found myself most drawn to is the San Francisco-Style Sourdough. And now that I’ve spent about a week eating them, I can tell you they are definitely an upgrade from the ones I’m used to — and would be a crowd-pleasing breakfast option for those who are hosting guests during the holidays.

What Is Wolferman’s Bakery’s San Francisco-Style Sourdough English Muffins?

If you love an English muffin as part of your breakfast, consider these your new go-tos. The Wolferman’s Bakery San Francisco-Style Sourdough English Muffins are not like any I’ve had before. For one, these English muffins are the thickest I’ve ever seen. They’re so thick, I actually made a habit of eating half of one at a time, which meant I had twice the amount of goodness to go around! But what truly makes them special is that they’re sourdough English muffins, using a century-old starter to get a nice chewy texture that becomes so deliciously crispy in the toaster. They don’t have all that much flavor, which is great because it makes them a good vehicle for jams, butter, and everything bagel seasoning (my favorite way to eat them).

Because these English muffins are so easy to dress up, they would be amazing to have on hand if you’re hosting guests this holiday season. On Wolferman’s Bakery’s website, you can get eight English muffins (aka two packs with four each) for just $15. Since they’re so affordable, they would also make for a thoughtful (and delicious) host gift if you’re staying with someone during the holidays.

Why I Love Wolferman’s Bakery’s San Francisco-Style Sourdough English Muffins

I am the type of person who doesn’t always have bread around. But when I do, it usually takes the form of English muffins or a crusty baguette. I’m a big breakfast person, so every morning, I make eggs (usually with cheese). And often, I’ll eat my eggs with a buttered and toasted whole wheat English muffin and a side of strawberries. This is actually my ideal home breakfast situation, since it’s savory, sweet, crispy, and creamy (and almost always spicy from the hot sauce on my eggs).

So when I saw that Wolferman’s Bakery had sourdough English muffins, I was intrigued. And after eating them for roughly a week, I can say they are my favorite English muffins I’ve had. When I toasted them, I found they were a little chewy on the inside and crispy on the outside — a combination I love. And as someone who has a bunch of jams in her fridge, I also loved that these English muffins serve as a nice canvas for me to fully enjoy the flavor of my favorite jams.

Plus, I was shocked by how long these lasted in my kitchen. Usually, the English muffins I buy from the store go bad within a few days (frankly, I’m lucky to get a full five days out of them before they become moldy). But I had these English muffins sitting on my counter for over a week — and though they did start becoming slightly stale — they were still good to be toasted up and incorporated into my breakfast.

These sourdough English muffins might not seem like much, but they have quietly elevated my breakfast game. Because of how easy they are to love (and how affordable they are), I genuinely can’t wait to introduce all of my loved ones to them this holiday season!
