I tried on Anthropologie's best wedding guest dresses — 9 chic picks for summer and fall weddings

One thing about me: I love a wedding. While I've yet to walk down the aisle myself, I've checked off a good number of wedding-related boxes: I've officiated two ceremonies, MC'd one, served as a bridesmaid and enjoyed my fair share of open bars. I love love, I love a party, and I especially love a good wedding guest dress. With three weddings on my calendar this summer and fall, I headed to Anthropologie (one of the best wedding guest dress retailers ever, IMO) and tried on nine potential styles, including a few beloved by Yahoo Canada readers. What I tried: The Somerset Maxi Dress

I finally did it. After years of writing about Anthropologie's viral Somerset Maxi Dress, I finally tried it on, and you know what? It's worth the hype. It's as comfy as reviewers promise and it has an extra latch for chest coverage — a must for my busty friends. While I didn't end up taking the Somerset home, it's flattering and has pockets, a win-win in my book.

What I tried: The Tobie Button-Front Pleated Shirt Dress by Exquise

Having written about Anthro's The Tobie Button-Front Pleated Shirt Dress by Exquise in the past, I was excited to try the dress on IRL. A cute work-friendly pick, the maxi comes with pockets (a win), but it felt like a lot of fabric on my 5'5, size 6 frame. That said, I still think it's a chic choice for the office, especially in its black-and-white striped version.

What I tried: BHLDN Sophia High-Neck Bow-Tie Organza Mini Dress

This organza mini is everything and more! I am obsessed! I tried it on in blue, but with only one size left on Anthropologie.com, you're better off grabbing it in the mint option linked below. It's gorgeous and reminds me of the iconic organza dress in the children's film "Anastasia" in the best way possible.

What I tried: BHLDN Adley V-Neck Flutter-Sleeve A-Line Taffeta Maxi Dress

I loved everything about this BHLDN maxi dress except for the price. It's super flattering and quite comfortable despite being a more formal dress. One thing to note: It has a very deep V-neck, so you'll want to plan accordingly.

What I tried: Sachin & Babi Sloane Taffeta Double-Bow Mini Dress

I love this Sachin & Babi mini dress SO MUCH. The store I visited only had light blue, but if this fun and flirty frock is calling your name, you can also shop it on sale in hot pink and dark green and for regular price in two colour block options and black.

What I tried: The Somerset Maxi Dress Poplin Halter Edition

While the Somerset Maxi Dress deserves its viral success, I was less of a fan of the halter Somerset. There was a ton of extra fabric in the chest — —like, a lot. I wear a 34DD, so the girls are there, but the extra chest room in the halter felt excessive. On the plus side, though, it had pockets!

What I tried: BHLDN Kendall Sleeveless High-Neck Organza Mini Dress

This red organza mini is SO fun and I feel like photos (mine in particular) don't do it justice. It is fun, flirty, and a breath of fresh air in a world of black and muted styles. Could not recommend it more.

What I tried: The Peregrine Midi Dress

I feel like I would have really liked this dress if I had tried it on in a different print. My local Anthropologie only had it in the neutral motif, which I did not find the most flattering with my colouring. That said, the dress is super comfortable and has a very forgiving waist — two things worth trying on for.

What I tried: Farm Rio Short-Sleeve Bow-Front Mini Dress

This polka-dot mini from Farm Rio will not be for everyone, but for those who appreciate a big sleeve and a bigger print, it's super cute and great for summer. There are no pockets, but there's a zipped side, so it's easy enough to put on.
