A woman claims that her husband ruined their honeymoon — by inviting his best friend and his best friend's wife on the trip.

In a Reddit post from the channel r/AITAH, a woman explained that she was expecting her honeymoon to be "a romantic, once-in-a-lifetime experience." But the vacation turned out to be quite the opposite.

A few weeks ahead of the couple's wedding, the user wrote that her husband mentioned it would be "fun" if his best friend and wife joined for a portion of their honeymoon.

"I immediately told him that I wasn’t comfortable with the idea because I wanted this trip to be about us, but he kept bringing it up, saying it would make the trip 'more exciting' and less 'boring,' " she said. "I stuck to my guns and thought I had made it clear that it wasn’t happening."

Upon their arrival to their honeymoon destination, her husband's friend and wife were waiting in the hotel lobby. "My husband had secretly invited them anyway, saying it would be 'no big deal' and that we could still have our alone time."

"But the entire trip turned into group dinners, shared activities, and zero intimacy," the wife said. "I barely got any time with just him, and when I brought it up, he acted like I was overreacting. He said we could go on a 'private vacation' another time, and that I should be grateful we got to travel at all."

When the newlyweds got home, the wife told her husband that "he ruined what was supposed to be our special honeymoon. He just shrugged and said I was making it a bigger deal than it was, and that "we'll have plenty of other trips,' " she said.

"I can't shake the disappointment, though, and he still doesn't seem to get why I'm upset," the original poster concluded, asking if she was in the wrong for telling her husband he ruined their honeymoon.

The Reddit community validated OP's feelings and said that she was "NTA." "Besides ignoring your wishes and going behind your back, I'm concerned that your husband thinks spending time with you alone is boring," one person wrote.

"If this is a hint of 'what's to come' you might want to rethink the whole marriage thing," another agreed.

"He has no respect for her and doesn’t care what she wants. And he thought their honeymoon was going to be BORING?! This utter disregard for her and her feelings is only going to get worse," a third chimed in.

"And since they are married now, he thinks he has her locked in and will expect her to put up with this crap. Definitely consider if you want to stay married to this man," they added, encouraging OP to reconsider their union.

Other Redditors seemed horrified by the couple who willingly showed up.

"Did the other couple know it was your honeymoon trip?" a user asked "Who gets an invite from their bestie to share the honeymoon and goes “gosh, that’s a great idea!"

A third warned OP: "If you don’t have a private vacation on your honeymoon, you’re never going to have one."
