This holiday season, more shoppers than ever are turning online to get their holiday gifts rather than hitting the local stores. While this offers a convenient, shop from home experience, a surge in online shopping has led to delays as retailers and shipping companies try to keep up with demand.
“For many shoppers, when checking out online they’re seeing a message from retailers that alerts them of probable shipping delays along with ETA on delivery but notes that their order could arrive later than that given the large volume of orders,” shared Sara Skirboll, RetailMeNot’s Shopping & Trends Expert.

“I recommend people shop early, consider buying online and picking up in store, and read the fine print. Make sure you know the return policy on your item and keep in mind that your order needs to process before it ships,” she added.
“We expect processing to happen instantaneously, but with the increase in online orders, retailers may need 1-2 days to process before the order gets shipped out. Plan your purchases accordingly!”
