On Wednesday morning, the wellness author appeared on Today to discuss her candid post about miscarriages, a typically taboo topic that she is hoping to normalize. During the show Baldwin noted that she had a scan later in the day to get an update on the pregnancy, but indicated that she wasn’t feeling optimistic.

Sure enough, her latest post confirms that there was “no heartbeat.”
“So it’s over,” she continued. “But I have some pretty strong and amazing heartbeats right here. I am surrounded by such love and I feel so fortunate. Thank you all for listening, for your support and for sharing your own personal stories. We are stronger together … I hope this conversation continues to grow and that we stick together through both the beautiful and challenging moments in life. Much love and appreciation to all of you.”
Just as her previous post prompted commenters to share their own experiences with pregnancy loss, Baldwin is being applauded for shining a light on a difficult topic.

“I am so sorry for your loss,” read one comment. Thank you for sharing your story. I have had five miscarriages and it’s so important to talk about it and let all of the other women who have been through it and will go through it someday know they are not alone. Much love as you and your family heal.”
“You are a brave human being,” a follower added.
“Thank you for sharing your experience with all of us as it was happening,” another commenter wrote. “It shows we don’t always have to hide or feel shame through these moments as women. Instagram is such a wonderful place, but it can also be a place that only highlights the amazing/blessed parts of life. You’re a wonderful mother and an inspiration to all of us to have the strength to share our experiences with other women — and to let them know they aren’t alone.”
