The red carpet of the 93rd Annual Academy Awards brought out some of the biggest names in Hollywood, including previous Oscar winner Halle Berry. The 54-year-old star arrived at Union Station in Los Angeles for film's most prestigious awards show alongside boyfriend, Van Hunt.

Although the star's red carpet debut with Hunt was a hot topic of conversation amongst fans, it paled in comparison to social media's reaction to her ensemble for the evening. Berry's short hairstyle and strapless Dolce & Gabbana gown sent Twitter into a frenzy — and was a sartorial swing and a miss for many Oscar viewers.
"Oh, Halle Berry," a fan lamented. "I thought it was impossible to make her look bad, but the hair is not great."
"Who gave Halle Berry a bowl cut?" another asked.
"Halle Berry needs to fire her stylist via text as soon as she gets to her phone," one wrote while another joked, "Halle Berry's hairstylist doesn't like her at all because that hairdo is not it."

The look came as a shock to many considering Berry's history as a red carpet favourite, and Oscars fashion icon. In 2002, the "Monster's Ball" star became the first Black woman to win the Oscar for Best Actress while wearing the now infamous burgundy illusion gown by Elie Saab.
"I remember when red carpets used to literally clear for Halle Berry to make way," one fan wrote. "Just fire the whole glam squad. I’m tired."

Despite the backlash for her latest look, the overall consensus was that despite her fashion misstep, Berry continues to be one of the greatest beauty's in Hollywood.
"Nope to the hair, but a resounding yes to the timeless beauty of Halle Berry," said one Twitter user while another wrote, "Halle Berry is so fine, I'm going to let this one slide."
