Gabrielle Union stuns in an edgy black dress on the TIFF red carpet: 'Gorgeous'
Gabrielle Union is making sure that all eyes are on her.
The 49-year-old walked the red carpet at the premiere of "The Inspection" during the 2022 Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) on Thursday evening at the Royal Alexandra Theatre.
The actress stunned in a black strapless gown with a fitted bodice by Vivienne Westwood. The frock also featured a daring thigh-high slit that showed off her toned legs, accentuated by black pointed-toe heels.
To accessorize, the "Bring It On" alum rocked a chunky pearl necklace, diamond rings and silver hoop earrings by Melinda Maria and Graziela Gems.
For glam, the mother-of-one opted for pink lipstick, a touch of blush and ultra-long lashes. She wore her long, dark locks in tight braids that cascaded down her back.
The "Cheaper By The Dozen" star walked the carpet with her former basketball player husband, Dwayne Wade, 40, who looked dapper in a black Burberry tuxedo with silk lapels and a crisp white shirt.
Before the show, Union was interviewed by TIFF who sent queer youth an inspirational message about finding your "family" and your place in this world.
"That I love you, that there’s plenty of people that love you, and it might not be the family that you share blood with but your chosen family. And there’s so many people that don’t even know you that love you and are rooting for you," Union explained with a sparkle in her eye. "And while some people say that it’s family over everything, sometimes when that love is not returned, family can be exactly what you make of it and to find that family wherever you can."
TIFF posted a video of the interview on Instagram, which sent fans into a frenzy of love and support for her empowering speech.
"Ugh I love this woman," commented a follower.
"Amen!" shared someone else, while another added, "I love this!"
"Well said honey," penned a fan. "Agreed."
"Amazing!" wrote an Instagram user.
"Gorgeous!" added someone else alongside the fire and heart emojis.
Written and directed by Elegance Bratton, the film follows Ellis French (played by Jeremy Pope) who joins the Marine Corps after being thrown out of his mother's (Union) home at age 16 for being a gay man. With few options for his future, French decides to do whatever it takes to succeed in a world that has cast him aside.
