Eva Amurri Martino responds to critics after newborn son suffers cracked skull
Eva Amurri Martino, Hollywood actress and motherhood blogger, is calling out the “cruelty” of critics after sharing details of her newborn son’s head injury and her own subsequent battle with depression.
On New Year’s Day, Susan Sarandon’s daughter, who has two children of her own, took to her website to reveal her youngest child, Major, suffered a cracked skull when his night nurse dropped him on the wooden floor after falling asleep with him on her lap.
As detailed in the tell-all post, Major is steadily recovering from a skull fracture and bleeding from the brain incurred in the fall days after Thanksgiving.
The news saw an outpour of support from fans, along with waves of criticism.
“To those who have expressed judgement, cruelty, and criticism of me, my choices, or my fragility during this time- I’m not going to justify myself to you,” she wrote in an Instagram post, accompanying a photo of her with her 2-month-old son.
“But I sincerely wish that 2017 brings you enough self love and confidence that you no longer feel the need to tear down another person during their darkest moment,” she said.
The “Undateable” star also gave thanks to those who shared words of encouragement in light of the traumatic event.
“Thank you from the bottom of my heart to everyone who has reached out with words of comfort or to share their own stories the past 24 hours. It is so moving to know there are so many of you who are wishing our sweet boy well, and who are rooting us on as a family.”

Since her son’s injury, Martino admits to being “in an emotionally bad place” and feeling “depleted and anxious.”
She believes she is suffering from a form of post-traumatic stress disorder that holds similarities to postnatal depression.
