Demi Moore was all business at the premiere of her horror film The Substance at the 2024 Toronto International Film Festival. On Thursday, the 61-year-old actress hit the TIFF red carpet for the Midnight Madness screening of her highly anticipated film at the Royal Alexandra Theatre, alongside co-star Margaret Qualley and the film's director, Coralie Fargeat.

Moore looked polished a menswear-inspired look: A floor-length Thom Browne skirt with silk cumberbund, white tuxedo shirt and black tie. The star wore her waist-length tresses down and paired the look with Tiffany & Co. diamond vine drop earrings, Jean Schlumberger by Tiffany Sea Star Brooch on her hip and two statement diamond rings.

Prior to the film's screening, Moore, Qualley and Fargeat appeared onstage to introduce the film. "I'm really humbled and grateful to be here," Moore said, "And that I hope you enjoy the f—king ride."

In the film, Moore plays a 50-year-old actress facing ageism in Hollywood. In a desperate bid to recapture the career momentum from her youth, she tries a mysterious substance that allows her body to generate a version of her younger self, played by Margaret Qualley, from her spine.

The film received a standing ovation from audiences with many suggesting Moore's performance may earn her an Oscar nomination. The film's intense filming process took its toll on Moore, who recently said that she was diagnosed with shingles during the film's production and lost 20 pounds.

In a new interview with Variety, Moore touched on the film's themes that women are disposable as they age and reach menopause.

"Who says somebody can’t look a certain way or do certain things? Your 60s is not what your 60s used to be," Moore said. "There’s a part of me that’s enjoying figuring it out as I go along. I had more challenges, particularly in my career, in my 40s than I do now."
