I love Halloween. I also love most Halloween-inspired food items. Those spooky chicken nuggets from last year quickly became my most consumed lunch item and I would sometimes pick up two to three bags at a time. From pumpkin-shaped pasta to cookies shaped like a witch's hat, I will consume pretty much anything that's spooky-themed. So, you can imagine my excitement when I saw Costco’s fan-favorite Halloween pasta is finally making a return—but not everyone is as excited as me.
The Return of Costco's Pumpkin & Bats Ravioli
Move over spooky chicken nuggets, it’s time for spooky ravioli to shine. Costco just started bringing back their Halloween food items and fans quickly spotted the return of the beloved Pumpkin & Bats Ravioli. The pasta sells as a two-pack for $9.99 and features pumpkin-shaped ravioli encased in orange dough and bat-shaped ravioli encased in black dough. The ravioli is made with a blend of mozzarella, Asiago, Parmesan, and ricotta, ensuring the filling is extra rich and creamy.
Fans quickly shared their excitement about the item returning on social media, exclaiming that it’s the perfect item for Halloween. Some even shared their pairings with the dish, like squash soup or "a ghostly, creamy alfredo sauce." While some fans are thrilled about its return, others are skeptical about the taste.
When one commenter asked on Reddit what sauce would pair well with the ravioli, many chimed in, suggesting skipping the item altogether. “These shapes usually taste terrible, I have not enjoyed the various holiday-shaped ravioli,” said one commenter.
“I tried these last year. Unfortunately, they don't taste that great. Very bland, hardly any filling,” wrote another person. Many began to speculate that the reason they might taste bad is due to the novelty of it, rather than the substance. I, for one, will still be running to grab a pack of these to try, regardless of the pushback. How could I not? They’re the perfect spooky dish to pair with an equally spooky movie.
