Christie Brinkley’s daughter tackles body image issues

If you don’t already know who Sailor Brinkley Cook is, one look at her mother should be enough to reveal the resemblance.

The 17-year-old model is the spitting image of mom, Christie Brinkely, and she has the modeling chops to match. Signed with IMG Models, she’s already graced the pages of Teen Vogue and Bella Magazine. But these modeling accomplishments aren’t what has her mom bragging on social media.
On Thursday, Brinkley posted a gushing congratulations to the teen for presenting her senior class project on body image.

“Congratulations to Sailor and all her smart, talented, creative, impressive classmates on the most interesting and passionately rendered senior projects!” Brinkley writes on Instagram.

Brinkley Cook’s project consisted of a short film created by the young model, which looked at body image and weight issues.
“Sailor’s gone through her own body weight images,” Brinkley tells Fashionista. “I can’t wait for her to put [the link] up [online], because it’s the most empowering film.”
For the project, Brinkley Cook reached out to a number of girls via Facebook, asking them to speak candidly about issues concerning weight and body image. Of the girls she spoke with, the 12 with the most compelling stories were chosen to be interviewed on camera, which Brinkley Cook then edited into the short film entitled, “The Weight of Being a Woman.”

“After years of dreaming of completing an exhibition resembling this and months and months of scheduling, shooting, and editing… I finally got to show it off last night,” Brinkley Cook wrote on Instagram. “There is hands down no better feeling than working hard and producing something you are truly proud of.”
While the film is yet to be released publicly, it will be interesting to see how the young model – know for posing in a bikini – tackles such a hotly debated issue.
