Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Sophie Gregoiré reunite for Halloween — see the Trudeau family's costumes
"Your kids will always remember evenings spent like this," a follower wrote to the hands-on father of three.
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau was the ultimate hands-on dad this Halloween. The 52-year-old celebrated the spookiest day of the year by getting into costume with his youngest son, 10-year-old Hadrien, before trick-or-treating with all three of his children and their mother, Sophie Grégoire Trudeau.
Trudeau shared some behind-the-scenes photos to Instagram of the father-son duo getting into costume as Dr. Victor Frankenstein and his monster. The trio of photos showed the Canadian Prime Minister putting his sewing skills to good use at a sewing machine, helping his son get into costume with green face paint and a final photo of the pair in full costume — with Hadrien towering over his dad.
“Not every monster comes fully assembled…especially not Frankenstein’s,” Trudeau captioned the post. “Happy Halloween to every parent trying their hand at arts and crafts tonight.”
The post earned comments from followers who praised the politician for helping his youngest celebrate in style.
“You’re a good dad,” one follower wrote. “Your kids will always remember evenings spent like this.”
“Of course you sew!” Another said. “Is there anything this guy can’t do?”
“When my folks separated, Halloween became a special way for me and my parents to connect,” someone wrote. “Either through costume designing or going trick or treating. This post resonated with me, Mr. Trudeau, because it shows how much you want to have fun with your kids. Kids deserve fun, and so do adults."
Although they announced their separation in August 2023, Trudeau celebrated Halloween with Grégoire Trudeau and their eldest children, 17-year-old Xavier dressed as a firefighter and 15-year-old daughter Ella-Grace dressed as a minion.
Grégoire Trudeau shared a photo to Instagram stories of the family posing in their costumes.
"Happy Halloween, everyone," the author wrote. "Playfulness keeps the mind healthy!"
In March 2024, Grégoire Trudeau revealed during an interview with Vogue that the former couple do not have a formal custody agreement.
"We don’t even have a parental sharing plan,” she said. “We go along with the kids’ schedules, and we keep each other posted.”
The family has been mindful to continue celebrating holidays as a family unit. Despite their decision to end their marriage, Grégoire Trudeau said her goal is to help her children transition to their new family structure.
“You can heal without hatred, without division, without blame." she said. “I’m not perfect. It takes two to tango, and I think we both acknowledge that.”
