A Canadian NHLer and his wife are the latest hockey couple to announce they're expecting a baby! Tyler Seguin, centre and alternate captain of the Dallas Stars, and wife Kate made a joint Instagram post on Saturday. Their video post featured the couple embracing one another, petting their three dogs and showing off ultrasound photos. The clip also included them carrying a pair of white baby sneakers.

“Half of you and half of me. Baby Seguin arriving January 2025,” their caption read, alongside the hashtag “#babyseggy.”

In the comments section of the post, people shared their congratulations for the couple. Some fellow NHL friends and family members also commented kind words.

“Congrats, guys!!” Canadian goaltender Scott Wedgewood wrote.

“The world’s most beautiful baby about to be!!” Tyler’s sister, Candace Seguin, penned, adding, “Give me the little nugget" in another comment.

“Can’t wait to love (and spoil) this baby!!!” Alexis Marchment, wife of Canadian forward Mason Marchment, added.

“You both will be the best parents. I’m so excited for you,” one person chimed in.

Tyler and Kate tied the knot in July 2023 surrounded by friends and family in the Bahamas, according to the Hockey News. That September, he told reporters it was the “best summer ever of my life.”

“It gives you that peace, coming home, just that peace, having someone there at all times, someone that you care about and adore,” Tyler said at the time. “It helps you focus on work a lot easier and there’s not as much distractions, so I’m excited for this year on and off the ice.”

This past July 15, Tyler and Kate made another joint Instagram post commemorating their one-year wedding anniversary. The Brampton, Ont.-born athlete and his wife shared a video from the special event, along with a sweet caption reflecting on their past year as husband and wife.

“Marrying you was and always will be the best decision I’ve ever made! This is my favourite chapter yet. One year down and a lifetime to go, my love,” the post's caption read, along with a red heart emoji.

In July 2022, Tyler made an Instagram post announcing his engagement to Kate, marking the day he got down on one knee. Back then, he posted a carousel of photos from his proposal, which took place in Santorini, Greece on July 17, 2022, including close-ups of the ring, him embracing Kate in a romantic kiss and a short video from the day.

“The story of our night,” he began in that post’s caption. “And the beginning of forever. I can’t wait to make you my wife.”
