Canadian influencer Sarah Nicole Landry says being asked to model with her stretch marks changed her 'entire life'
The 39-year-old mom-of-four hit the beach to model the latest swimwear collection from Knix.
Sarah Nicole Landry is reflecting on the journey to embrace her stretch marks. On Tuesday, the Canadian influencer, also known online as "The Birds Papaya," shared an Instagram Reel that featured a powerful message of body positivity.
In the video, Landry shared footage taken during a Knix Swimwear photoshoot filmed on-location in Cabo, Mexico.
"At 20, you cried yourself to sleep as stretch marks enrobed your body. At 39 you're a bikini model and realize these marks defined you for all the right reasons. It was never the end of anything. Only the beginning of something electric." Landry penned.
In the caption, she wrote, "It took me five years to respect them, eight years to accept them and a lifetime of showing them the f-ck off."
"Grateful for Knix, the first brand to ask me to model with my stretch marks, ultimately changing my entire life and helping me find out that I wasn't alone," she continued. "I'm forever grateful, inspired, in love."
"You are definitely an inspiration to me, you are one of the reasons why I’m proud of my pregnancy stretch marks. So thank you for always being so vulnerable and showing people that they should love the skin they are in," an Instagram user wrote.
"For so long, I truly believed nobody had a body after babies that looked like mine. I've stood amongst moms that just bounce back to 'normal.' Thank you for showing me (and the world) there is not just one 'normal,'" commented another.
"When I was pregnant with my daughter at 21, I got stretch marks. When I voiced my concerns with my OBGYN, she said, 'You’re not planning on becoming a swimsuit model after the baby, are you?' I don’t know that I’ll ever be a swimsuit model, but you are definitely an inspiration!" someone recalled.
Landry, known for her online body positivity, shared another candid Instagram post earlier this month celebrating her body.
The Guelph, Ont. native shared side-by-side comparison photos of how her body appears when wearing leggings versus her natural curves.
"Confidence is a resistance. Not a mastering. Not an absence of negative thoughts. A resistance. A showing up. A defiance against our own minds, at times. A step forward, when so much tells you to be still and stay put. A resistance," she wrote.
