Canadian actress Lauren Ash rocks '80s-inspired mini dress at pre-Golden Globes party
The Belleville, Ont. actress shared some playful "afterparty" images with fans.
Lauren Ash celebrated the 2024 Golden Globes weekend in style — and even hosted her "own afterparty."
On Sunday, the "Superstore" star took to Instagram with photos from a Jan. 6 pre-Golden Globes party hosted by Vanity Fair, Amazon and MGM Studios at Bar Marmont in Los Angeles, Calif.
The 40-year-old Belleville, Ont. native hit the event's red carpet in an 80s-inspired black Lovers & Friends mini-dress paired with sheer black tights and a gold chain necklace by Miranda Frye Jewellery. The "Family Switch" actress styled the ensemble with bold Ettika earrings with her ice blonde locks in tousled waves to complete the look.
"Had a time at the [Amazon Studios, MGM Studios & Vanity Fair] party last night!" Ash captioned the post. "Make sure to check out the final [two] slides to see my fave part of any Hollywood night out: making my own afterparty and the iconic inspo for that."
Ash included photos of herself with her former "Superstar" co-star Nico Santos, and a candid photo of herself playfully digging into a cheeseburger from Shake Shack. The "afterparty" photo was inspired by a 2005 image of actress Hilary Swank enjoying a hamburger (with her Academy Award in tow) after winning her second Oscar in 2005 for her role in "Million Dollar Baby."
Fans praised the star for her latest red carpet look and her deep cut pop culture reference.
"Oh Ash, love this dress!" one follower wrote. "You look amazing."
"You are so radiant. Love the '80s/'90s vibe to this outfit. Just love it all," another said.
"Looking fabulous," someone complimented the star before making mention of the Swank-inspired image. "The way I snorted when I got to the 5th photo."
The actress and singer, who recently released her debut EP "Sad This Christmas," has been busy promoting new music.
In an interview with CTV Your Morning, Ash discussed how performing at the famed Whiskey A Go-Go in July 2023 fulfilled a lifelong dream.
"Growing up in Belleville, Ont. my connection to the music scene in the 90s and 2000s were stories about the Viper Room, the Roxy and the Whiskey A Go-Go," she said. "When I got to play a full set there, it was really such a cool moment."
Ash admitted she "really would rather have been a rock star than an actor," and is enjoying living out her "teenage dream" through her music.
"Now it's such a joy to connect to that thing that brings you that visceral level of feeling alive and having the confidence of an adult that I didn’t as a teen," Ash admitted.
