Canadian actors Ryan Gosling, Simu Liu channel their inner Kens for 'Barbie' premiere
Simu Liu, Ryan Gosling and Michael Cera stunned fans with their red carpet fits.
Canadian actors on the cast of Greta Gerwig's "Barbie" movie went all-out with their premiere looks.
On Sunday night, Simu Liu, Ryan Gosling and Michael Cera stunned fans with their red carpet fits — all channeling their inner "Ken-ergy."
Simu Liu
Liu, who grew up in Mississauga, Ont., stood out in a light-blue Versace suit, paired with a white button-down and a matching blue harness.
He accessorized with David Yurman jewelry, including a pink pendant.
The "Marvel" actor — who now plays one of the many Kens in "Barbie," was the only on the cast to steer away from shades of pink and black.
In an Instagram post, he thanked Versace for dressing both him and his girlfriend, Allison Hsu, who dazzled in a pink-and-blue skirt set with black and gold detailing.
"Thank you [Versace] for dressing us both for the date night of the century with my barbie," Liu wrote in the caption. "Life in plastic is, in fact, fantastic!"
Ryan Gosling
Fellow Ontarian Ryan Gosling, who plays the lead Ken in "Barbie" showed out in an all-blush pink suit from Gucci. He paired it with a slightly lighter-coloured pink button-down.
Gosling completed the show-stopping look with a pair of white dress shoes.
Around his neck, a necklace sparkled with the letter "E" in the "Barbie"-theme font, likely as a nod to his wife Eva Medes, or daughter Esmerelda.
Michael Cera
Brampton, Ont.-native Michael Cera also opted for a light summery pink suit to match the theme.
In the "Barbie" movie, Cera plays Allan who is marketed as Ken's best friend. His character was based on a real doll from 1964, with the tagline "All of Ken's clothes fit him!"
Cera's premiere look choice could be a nod to his character's origin, nearly matching Gosling's look.
With the exception of Liu, the rest of the cast also wore shades of pink and Black to the premiere.
"Barbie" star Margot Robbie dazzled in a sparkly black dress with a tulle bottom flare, while director Greta Gerwig opted for a hot pink dress and matching blazer.
The "Barbie" movie has received strong reviews from first critics, as promised by Liu who wrote on Instagram: "This film exceeds expectations and will surprise every single person in the audience."
Rotten Tomatoes' Carla Renata gave kudos to Liu, saying in a tweet, "I was living for the dance numbers led by Simu Liu!"

Variety's Katcy Stephan also loved the film, according to her tweet.
"[Barbie] is perfection. Greta Gerwig delivers a nuanced commentary on what it means to be a woman in a whimsical, wonderful and laugh-out-loud funny romp," Stephan tweeted.
"The entire cast shines, especially Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling in roles they were clearly born to play."
The movie is set to be officially released in theatres July 21.
