Boygenius Wears Matching White Suits and Pink Carnation Boutonnieres for 2024 Grammys Debut
The 'Anti‐Curse' rockers brought their signature style to the ceremony, where they are up for six awards
Boygenius just hit the Grammy Awards red carpet in matchy-matchy looks — and we’re trying our best to be “cool about it.”
All three members of the singer-songwriter supergroup — Phoebe Bridgers, Julien Baker and Lucy Dacus — arrived to the show in custom Thom Browne white silk moire tuxedos with white satin armbands, black silk faille ties and pink carnation boutonnieres.
According to Far Out Magazine, the trio wore the pink carnations as a tribute to musician Elliott Smith who died in 2003 at age 34 by a stabbing. In their song "We're In Love" the band sings: "I'll be the boy with the pink carnation."
The Record rockers — known for their affinity for menswear-inspired looks — topped off their look with shiny black lace-up shoes, a red button and black ties.
Bridgers, 29, styled her platinum hair in loose waves and rocked white eyeshadow, while Baker, 28, kept her glam to minimum with a nude lip.
Flanked by Bridgers and Baker on either side, Dacus, 28, went for a red lip. The boys' makeup didn't necessarily hold up, though. After three pre-show wins, Dacus shared a photo of herself post-cry, with mascara staining her face. Bridgers had a similar makeup stain — a red lip mark from one of band mates, as seen in a celebratory Boygenius Instagram post.
Before the ceremony started, the group won awards for best alternative music album, and their song "Not Strong Enough" won best rock song and best rock performance.
The track is also nominated for record of the year, and for their song “Cool About It,” is up for best alternative music performance.

Outside of boygenius, Bridgers is up for best pop duo/group performance for “Ghost In The Machine,” her haunting SOS collaboration with SZA — who tops the list of nominees with a total of nine nods.
Bridgers previously attended the Grammys in 2021, where she received four nominations, including best alternative music album for her album Punisher, best rock song and best rock performance for “Kyoto,” and best new artist.

For her Grammys red carpet debut, the “Moon Song” singer took her signature skeleton motif to the next level in a stunning Thom Browne look complete with bedazzled bones — and revealed that the outfit actually inspired her spooky aesthetic.
"I wear a skeleton costume all the time, but one of the reasons I do is because I saw this Thom Browne dress forever ago and thought it was so cool. And I asked for it," Bridgers said during E! Live from the Red Carpet.
“I basically stole it,” she added.
