Many savvy travelers use points and miles deals to save big during the notoriously expensive holiday travel season. But before you empty out all your loyalty programs to redeem those hard-earned rewards, don’t forget to take advantage of deals and promos that can help earn you some extra points and miles—some of which you can even score while you’re at home stuffing turkeys and stockings. Who knows? They may just be enough to get you to that business class seat or that extra ticket.
From online shopping portals to fall promotions, here are more than a dozen ways for you to enjoy credit card perks, as well as points and miles deals—including for some creative experiential gifts. As always, make sure you accomplish registration for any promotions that require it before making your bookings.

How to spend and earn points and miles with airlines in November 2024
Flying Blue, the loyalty program of Air France-KLM, is out with their November Promo Rewards for flights between now and next spring. The deal offers 25% off economy mileage redemptions to Europe from Denver and Seattle (starting at 15,000 Flying Blue points) on Air France; there’s also a similar discount on KLM economy redemptions to Europe from Boston or New York-JFK.
United MileagePlus members can now earn as many as 5,000 bonus miles when making purchases through the airline's MileagePlus Shopping portal online. Sign up with the portal and then shop at any of the hundreds of online retailers (that you probably already frequent, like Apple, Sephora, and Office Depot) to earn miles for holiday shopping. The offer ends November 22. Other US airlines have similar shopping portal bonuses before the holidays, so keep an eye out.
How to get bonus points and perks at hotels in November 2024
IHG One Rewards includes Kimpton Hotels in its loyalty program, and the next time you find yourself checking into one of its hotels, be sure to use this season’s secret password: “it’s giving.” Between now and January 31, 2025, mentioning this password at check-in could result in some special surprises during the stay. In the past, this has included perks like free parking, a welcome drink, bonus points, or even a room upgrade. And if you haven’t used the IHG app to book a hotel stay before, another promotion will get you 3,000 bonus points for completing a stay that happens within 30 days of making your first-time reservation through the app.
Hilton Honors members can now earn and redeem points for stays at Small Luxury Hotels of the World (SLH) properties—but the SLH boutique hotel group has revamped its own loyalty program, known as SLH Club. If you’d rather save your Hilton Honors points and perks for another time, SLH Club could be worth exploring. Anyone that joins the program can take advantage of flexible check-in and checkout times. And after staying four nights in a calendar year, members earn complimentary continental breakfast and potential room upgrades, and the top tier—achieved after staying 13 nights—comes with a $300 reward night voucher.
Choice Privileges members with a US address can earn double “extra benefits” during any Sunday to Thursday stay between now and the end of the year. This promotion is valid at Cambria, Ascend, Radisson, Radisson RED, or Radisson Blu hotel brands in the United States. Extras include your choice of bonus points, bonus frequent flier miles, and rideshare or retail gift cards.
A new loyalty program named Journey is worth checking out. Free to join, the soon-to-launch Journey will award points at hotels that do not already have programs of their own. Members can redeem their earnings for everything from free cocktails and room upgrades to free night redemptions. New hotels are on the way, but so far, participating properties include Bali’s Nihi Sumba and Dunton Hot Springs in Colorado, among others.
How to score unique experiences through hotels in November 2024
Marriott Bonvoy is courting NFL fans this season with 18 different Marriott Bonvoy Moments where members can bid points on football-themed events, including the chance to help announce a draft pick live from the stage next spring. The latest deals include a round of “mystery experiences” for only 6,200 points, where members can enjoy special tailgates at games—or even hob-knob with football legends like Jason Kelce.
Hilton Honors members can use their points to bid on a private makeup session with Patrick Ta, a “makeup maestro” to Hollywood stars. Whoever bids the most points can bring a guest to learn hot tips on how to look red carpet-ready at Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills and enjoy a meet-and-greet and photo opportunity with Ta.
News you can use: World of Hyatt
From now until November 30, World of Hyatt members can earn double points at Mr & Mrs Smith hotels this month when booking a stay through Hyatt after registering for this promotion. Bonus points are eligible on any stay through Christmas Eve, at boutique and luxury properties all over the world—from New York to Bali and everywhere in between—now that Hyatt has added more than 800 participating properties, many of them independent gems, to its portfolio.
Additionally, to celebrate a new partnership, Hyatt members who link their memberships to their Peloton accounts can earn 100 points for doing a workout at least 20 minutes in length while using Peloton equipment at participating Hyatt hotels. You can earn up to 1,000 points per month—that’s a maximum of 12,000 extra points each year.
Finally, the program’s FIND Experiences portal lets you redeem points for unique meals, sporting events, or concerts. For example, there’s a just-released foodie event with French chef and restaurateur Ludo Lefebvre on offer at Thompson Denver. The package, which can be booked entirely with points or a mix of points and cash, includes overnight accommodations, a four-course dinner, and a meet-and-greet with the chef. (It’s the first of several in the Taste of Thompson Chef Series.)
News you can use: American AAdvantage
New perks are available for American AAdvantage and World of Hyatt members who link their accounts and reach certain spending thresholds within either program. For example, World of Hyatt Milestone Rewards are now redeemable for American Airlines seat upgrades and airline elite status. And if you reach certain AAdvantage Loyalty Point thresholds, you can redeem those awards for free nights at World of Hyatt properties.
Unfortunately, it is not all good news though. Starting next year, American AAdvantage and World of Hyatt will no longer offer reciprocal mileage and point earning for elite status members who do business with either travel brands, which was a lucrative perk for several years.
That said, American AAdvantage members should check the promotions tab in their account for a new offer that awards a variable number of bonus miles for activating the deal, booking and flying a set number of premium economy or business class tickets before December 19. For example, one current offer is to earn 20,000 miles for taking four eligible flights, but your offer may vary.
