Avril Lavigne flaunts pop-punk style at Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony: 'Legend'
Avril Lavigne channeled her signature pop-punk style while receiving a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
On Wednesday, the "Sk8er Boi" singer posed next to her long overdue star on the renowned Los Angeles sidewalk dedicated to honouring icons in the entertainment industry throughout history. The star, who grew up in Napanee, Ont., marked her impressive career milestone and the 20th anniversary of her debut album, "Let Go," in an outfit that some fans think "the old Avril" would have worn in a heartbeat.
The 37-year-old shared a carousel of photos on Instagram, posing alongside her latest accolade wearing flared green and red plaid pants, black skate shoes with orange laces as well as a black graphic hoodie she's owned since she was a teenager that reads, "Skateboarding is not a crime."
"Look, mom. I got a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame," she penned to her more than 11 million followers.

You deserve this long overdue recognition," one Instagram user shared, while another wrote, "We're so proud of you for everything you've done. You deserve it!"
"It's about time!" one person sounded off, while another pointed out, "The hoodie is iconic."
"Congratulations, sweet girl! It’s about time! You’ve been a star your whole life! Proud of you!" someone chimed in.

Lavigne delivered a touching speech at her Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony alongside a large photo of her teenage self sprawled out across the famous sidewalk beside another star, wearing the very same hoodie.
"Today, I love making music more than ever. I feel so inspired," she said, before thanking her friends, family and fiancé, Mod Sun. She also shared that she hopes her achievement will inspire the next teenager who travels "to Hollywood one day full of hopes and dreams.”
"Follow your dreams, live your passion, express yourself, be real, work hard, keep your head up, believe in yourself," the singer continued. “Thank you so much for this honour, I am so grateful — to party with you all after."
