Angelina Jolie, Céline Dion and more: Vote now for the best and worst-dressed celebrities of the week
From the 2024 Tony Awards to various movie premieres, celebrities made lots of exciting fashion statements this week.
From fashion statements to red carpet family affairs, celebrities brought out all the stops when it came to style this week. It also happened to be a week full of varying colours, with stars opting for vibrant gowns, pastel-hued looks and classy black outfits.
This week saw a few fashion family team red carpet efforts, with Angelina Jolie matching alongside 15-year-old daughter Vivienne Jolie-Pitt and Jason Momoa coordinating looks with 16-year-old daughter Lola Iolani Momoa. Venus and Serena Williams also sat front-row during Milan Fashion Week with mom Oracene Price and sister Lyndrea Price, and Céline Dion attended a screening for her documentary with son René-Charles.
Between the 2024 Tony Awards and various movie premieres, we've rounded up the 10 best and worst-dressed celebrities of the week. Now, we're asking you, Yahoo Canada readers, to vote on which star you think should win each title. Then, check back in over the weekend, where we'll share which A-lister wins our best dressed award this week — and who, sadly, will take home the worst dressed title.
BEST DRESSED: Angelina Jolie
As iconic as the Statue of Liberty, Angelina Jolie channelled the famed New York City sculpture wearing a light teal Atelier Versace gown for the 2024 Tony Awards. The custom strapless velvet piece featured a sweetheart neckline that revealed the 49-year-old's latest tattoo, a sparrow-like bird spreading its wings to fly.
To accessorize, the "Mr. & Mrs. Smith" actress wore several bracelets, including a hand-carved and hand-sculpted lucite bangle by Alexis Bittar. Celebrity hairstylist Renato Campora let the mom-of-six's luscious locks flow down her shoulders using the Maria Nila True Soft Argan Oil. Makeup artist Raoul Alejandre gave Jolie a magical look that exuded glamorous energy.
WORST DRESSED: Constance Wu
Constance Wu hit up the Queerty Celebrates Pride50 Gala earlier this week in New York wearing a coral pink feather-trimmed Miu Miu satin top and a matching mini skirt. She paired the look with metallic strappy René Caovilla Juniper sandals, and accessorized with a light pink short necklace, pearl earrings and a shiny hair clip.
Perhaps it's simply the angle of the photos of the 42-year-old actress at this event, but this outfit is wearing the "Crazy Rich Asians" star — and it's in desperate need of a quick steam.
BEST DRESSED: Austin Butler
A man made the cut for our celebrity fashion list? We're also in shock. But if you're opting for a black suit that almost every man lazily picks for every single red carpet, at least do it like Austin Butler. While the 32-year-old actor half-cheated his way onto our best-dressed list since his outfit was reportedly picked out by girlfriend Kaia Gerber, we're swooning over the chic and classy elements of this piece.
The Helmut Lang monochromatic look featured a classic cropped blazer, letting Butler channel the midwestern vibe of his upcoming film "The Bike Riders" at the movie's Los Angeles premiere this week. The jacket was cinched at the waist with a loose black seatbelt strap, which Butler complemented with a relaxed pair of double-pleated trousers. The "Dune: Part Two" Actor accessorized with a thin silver chain and black leather shoes, letting his dark blond hair spike out in effortless beach waves.
WORST DRESSED: Colman Domingo
What's also leaving us in shock is this unfortunate fashion miss from usual style icon Colman Domingo. The 54 year old attended the Louis Vuitton Menswear Spring/Summer 2025 show in Paris Fashion Week wearing a bold look that could easily leave onlookers in confusion.
Above the waist, the Oscar-nominated actor is serving his A-game for fashion with a burgundy jacket and matching suit vest featuring blue buttons. For accessories, he opted for a gold chain featuring an "LV" pendant, a smaller gold chainlink necklace, one gold hoop earring and a Louis Vuitton cross body bag.
The rest of the look then turns into what a mother might see when she lets her child pick out their back-to-school outfit for the first time. Below the waist, the "Rustin" star wore a pair of pleated flowing denim shorts and brown suede cowboy boots, all tied together with long black socks that cut off mid-calf.
BEST DRESSED: Eva Longoria
Whatever Eva Longoria puts on typically turns into magic. It's almost unfair how someone can look this glamorous in a paparazzi photo taken in midtown New York. The 49-year-old actress looked fiery hot in Simkhai's Orson One Shoulder Midi Dress. The red all-leather piece showed off the "Desperate Housewives" alum's curves, featuring a thigh-high slit and a tied rope-like elements on the bodice.
The mom-of-one wore the outfit for the "Today" show on Thursday, where she talked about her TV series "Land of Women" as well as motherhood: "I think there's a dire need to leave this world a better place when you have children. You're like, 'Oh my gosh, I can't leave it the way it is.'"
WORST DRESSED: Céline Dion
Céline Dion looked absolutely radiant and healthy for her first red carpet appearance since being diagnosed with Stiff Person Syndrome. But the all-white outfit the Canadian icon wore for a New York screening of her new documentary was a fashion miss.
For the "I Am: Celine Dion" screening, the 56-year-old opted for a white long-sleeve blouse featuring a loosely-tied bow at the neckline. The top was tucked into a matching floor-length skirt. She accessorized with a thin, loose black sparkling belt, pearl earrings, pearl bangles and a couple of shiny rings. Dion might've looked better than ever with this appearance, but her outfit — unfortunately — gave us a matronly vibe we don't particularly fancy.
BEST DRESSED: Cynthia Erivo
For the 2024 Tony Awards, Cynthia Erivo easily defied gravity with her custom strapless Louis Vuitton gown. While the "Wicked" star was only a guest presenter for the awards show this year, this gold sequinned gown makes her look like a winning trophy
The 37-year-old actress completed her look with Tiffany & Co. jewelry, including a stunning leaves necklace made of platinum and 18 karat yellow gold with diamonds. She also opted for several rings, a gold bracelet and various silver earrings.
WORST DRESSED: Emma Stone
One Louis Vuitton win means there must be one Louis Vuitton miss. Emma Stone wore an all-black piece from the fashion house's Cruise 2025 show, but the complicated elements of the gown make this outfit difficult to look at. Where do we even begin to describe this fashion choice?
The 35-year-old actress's outfit featured a sheer polka dot coverup with cutouts. Underneath, she wore black mini shorts and a pair of ankle-strap heels. Stone wore the piece at the New York premiere of her upcoming film "Kinds of Kindness," and chose to be conservative with her accessories.
BEST DRESSED: Laverne Cox
At the New York screening of "I Am: Celine Dion," Laverne Cox brought a sense of playful whimsy we don't often get to enjoy on red carpets. The 52-year-old actress channelled the 1990s with her archival Thierry Mugler outfit, which featured a short-sleeve bolero and mini skirt from the fashion house's 1995 couture collection.
To accessorize, the "Orange Is the New Black" alum opted for a mini handbag from Mugler's fall 1992 collection, along with a vintage silver choker from Dior. Below the waist, Cox rocked sheer tights and a pair of slingback pumps.
WORST DRESSED: Brooke Shields
While we have to respect a celebrity who has the guts to wear a pair of yellow Crocs brighter than the sun on a red carpet, we're not feeling this vibrant look from Brooke Shields. The 59-year-old actress wore a sleeveless yellow Monique Lhuillier gown for the 2024 Tony Awards, which featured a sequinned bodice, deep V-neck neckline and a bow on front.
The "Mother of the Bride" star accessorized with a boxy clutch, gold and silver bangles and large pearl earrings. We appreciate that Shields poked some fun at the necessity of her footwear choice since it was three days after she underwent foot surgery, but this colour doesn't do the mom-of-two any favours.
