'She had so much promise': Former child star's face tattoo has fans concerned
Amanda Bynes debuted a bold new look to Instagram that has some fans concerned for her mental state.
On Dec. 30, the “She’s The Man” actress shared a photo of herself on social media, sporting pink hair, a septum piercing and what appeared to be a tattoo of a misshapen heart on the left side of her face. Bynes disabled comments on her most recent post that included only an alien face emoji as a caption.

While it’s unclear whether or not the tattoo is permanent, the dramatic new look comes weeks after the 33-year-old actress checked herself out of the L.A. sober living facility where she had been living in since January. According to a source, Bynes left the facility to temporarily live with her parents who have maintained conservatorship of her affairs since 2014. While the conservatorship is still in place until August 2020, Bynes and her parents visited a Ventura County, Calif., courtroom, where it was deemed she is well enough to live on her own.
The new look has raised concerns with Bynes’s fans, who worry for the state of her mental health.

“It's hard to believe [after] watching interviews from just seven or so years ago [where she spoke] about not succumbing to the pressures of Hollywood that this is the same woman,” one Daily Mail reader wrote. “It makes me sad. I'm the same age and grew up watching her. She's one I really hoped would get it together.”

I wish her all the best. I grew up watching the Amanda show and seeing her as a kid on All That...I just want her to okay and happy🙏🏾💕

“This poor girl was let down in a massive way by the people who were meant to protect her,” another wrote. “This is the result of that. She deserves better and I hope she can find peace soon.”
“I'm worried about her. I don't think she is in the right mental state right now,” one concerned fan said. “I don't know if it's drugs or something else, but she doesn't seem back to her old self. She did an interview a while back where she looked great and sounded great, and wanted to get back to acting. But now she is back to doing things to her hair and face, etc. like she did when she was unstable before...I hope she gets things right, and gets back to acting. She had so much promise.”

Fans were hopeful that Bynes was healthy following her graduation from the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising (FIDM) in June 2019. Although completing her program, the former Nickelodeon star signed up for additional classes to maintain her bachelor’s degree.
In 2018, Bynes gave an exclusive interview to Paper magazine where she opened up about her mental health issues, as well as her history of drug abuse, including marijuana, ecstasy, MDMA and Adderall. At the time of the interview, Bynes shared that she had been sober for four years, following several legal issues in 2012, which included charges for a DUI, driving with a suspended licence and two counts of hit-and-run.

“I started smoking marijuana when I was 16. Even though everyone thought I was the ‘good girl,’ I did smoke marijuana from that point on,” she told the magazine. “I didn’t get addicted [then] and I wasn’t abusing it. And I wasn’t going out and partying or making a fool of myself… yet.”
