Has it happened yet?
By it, I mean: has your makeup melted straight off your face this summer?
If you’re a big fan of the “no makeup look” and use a lot of clean beauty brands, understandable - the humidity is unspeakable and only gets worse during this time of year.
Notoriously streaky and greasy under the pressure of high temperatures, many natural and organic products have a hard time holding up in water and the summer heat.
This is especially true for skin-loving ingredients with high-oil content (when applied to naturally oily skin) and underdeveloped formulas that promise a little too much.
A product may go on beautifully, but when the results begin to mudslide in a matter of hours, it can be disappointing.
That said, the formulation of natural makeup products has come a long way and in 2020, the number of quality offerings is seriously off the charts.

Below, I serve you this year’s best all-natural, melt-proof beauty products in every category of face paint, from base layer primers to water-resistant foundations, and innovative blushes to sealing setting sprays.

A single swipe of shimmery, watercolour-like paint across the lid stays all day long.
Well People Expressionist Pro Mascara
SHOP IT: Well People, $20
A clean beauty cult-favourite, Well People’s Expressionist Pro Mascara creates highly defined and deeply conditioned lashes. The innovative brush designed with molded rubber (that’s totally safe for your eyes, by the way) separates the thinnest, shortest, and hardest-to-reach lashes in one lengthening scoop.
Hot tip: The Expressionist Pro Mascara also makes a fabulous brow gel. If I had photo evidence (not so much a selfie gal), I could prove it. But, it looks like you’ll just have to trust me on this one... or this makeup artist on why you should be using mascara on your brows.
Clove + Hallow Hydratint Blush Serum
SHOP IT: Clove + Hallow, $26
Like a lip tint for the cheeks, Clove + Hallow’s Hydratint Blush Serums have a lightweight, satin-y finish that dries in seconds and adds a natural-looking flush to the face. Infused with meadowfoam oil and hyaluronic acid, they replenish the skin and play up a dewy look at the same time.

In fact, its the highlighter for your highlighters - a “transformative topper for your favourite luminous products”, as the brand likes to say. The Alchemist Highlight Intensifier is remarkably radiant, goes on creamy, and mesmerizes with an iridescent glimmer that won’t spread its sparkle anywhere else. One application gives you perma-shine (see the photo at the beginning of this article for proof).

As NewBeauty’s 2020 Winner for Best Lip Stain, you’ll want to get your hands on a Sangria Slush (pictured above), Strawberry Frozé or an Orange Fizz before summer’s over.
