I've been living in Aerie's new collection that feels like a 'second skin' — and it's on sale right now

Back in February, Aerie's "hugely flattering" Crossover Leggings that blew up on TikTok received a major update - they turned into biker shorts.

Shortly after Hannah Schlenker posted a dance video wearing the leggings in blue, the Crossover Leggings completely sold out.

Though I was never able to get my hands on a pair, I was fortunate enough to try out the brand's new Shine Collection, which launched at the end of March.

The Shine Collection expands on Aerie's activewear collection, OFFLINE. From high-waisted leggings to swimwear to women’s underwear, Aerie OFFLINE has something for everyone and every activity.

Aerie first made headlines back in 2014 when it announced the #AerieReal campaign which featured unretouched models in response to backlash over Photoshop.

Today, the brand's motto is still "Power. Positivity. No retouching." There's even a section on Aerie's website to upload a photo of yourself keeping it #AerieReal and a gallery of images to scroll through.

Every time I pull on one of my Shine Rib items, I'm reminded of this. It also helps that they have a second skin feel.

Really, the Shine Collection provides the comfy, versatile and complimentary activewear sets you've been waiting for.

Available in sizes XXS to XXL, it serves a diverse range of bodies too. The beloved Crossover styles provide extra support around the midsection, define the waist with their V-shaped waistbands, and appear airbrushed on the skin.

Some of my favourite features of the Shine Collection include the 360-degree stretch fabric that molds to my body and feels just as great during a workout as it does when I'm simply lounging around.

As someone with a more petite stature, I've noticed that finding the perfect size of biker short can be tricky - if they're a smidge too big, they can look awkward in all the wrong places.

After learning my lesson with my last few pairs, I made sure to order the XS from Aerie and they fit perfectly (a note for my fellow tinies!). Plus, their seven-inch inseam falls at the perfect length.

Bonus: I can pair my Ribbed Shine Crossover Bike Shorts in "sycamore" and true black with other activewear pieces or an oversized t-shirt and some sneakers for a quick, casual look.
