74% of Yahoo Canada readers voted this star as the worst dressed this week: Best and worst celebrity fashion poll results
From Katy Perry to Tinashe, our audience was pretty set in stone with their opinions on this week's celebrity fashion.
When it came to celebrity fashion this past week, Canadians were quite opinionated on some looks from the biggest stars. Yahoo Canada readers shared their thoughts on red carpet and street-style fashion, with polls indicating there's a strong consensus one singer didn't hit the mark with her recent fashion choices.
Moreover, voters were pretty divided on their thoughts for several of the stars we chose to include on our lists of best and worst-dressed celebrities of the week. For instance, "Purple Hearts" actress Sofia Carson was listed as one of the worst-dressed stars of the week with a feathered Oscar de la Renta gown she wore at a gala. While 57 per cent of voters considered the 31-year-old's outfit bad, 21 per cent were in the middle and 22 per cent skewed towards the opposite opinion.
Readers had a similar separation on some stars who made our best-dressed celebrity of the week list. "Bridgerton" star Nicola Coughlan wore an extravagant Sara Mrad couture look for the Toronto premiere of the Netflix series's second part of season three. While 51 per cent of people thought the look wasn't good, 19 per cent were split between both sides, and 30 per cent voted that the 37 year old looked great.
So, what exactly did Yahoo Canada readers think about this week's celebrity fashion? Here are the stars who topped our best dressed and, unfortunately, worst dressed lists of the week.
BEST DRESSED WINNER: Katy Perry
Katy Perry brought a touch of orange to the south of France, where the singer's glamorous look was a firework-hit amongst many fans. When put up against looks from Jodie Turner-Smith, Sarayu Blue, Nicola Coughlan and Chanel Iman this week, 39-year-old Perry won over 48 per cent of more than 1,600 voters.
The "California Gurls" artist was tapped by one of India's richest families to help celebrate the upcoming wedding between Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant. The couple booked a luxury cruise that left Italy and landed in France, where Perry performed some of her hits in Cannes, a gig that reportedly came with a more than $6 million pay cheque.
Enjoying the European heat, Perry looked stunning in her orange sheer gown featuring large sequins from LaPointe's pre-fall 2024 collection. She paired the look with a bright orange bikini and matching Aquazzura leather sandal heels, as she let her dark wavy hair flow over one shoulder.
While Perry won best dressed this week, the singer's look didn't come without some division amongst Yahoo Canada readers. In a secondary poll voted on by 200 people, 46 per cent of people were not fans of Perry's look. Thirteen per cent voted in the middle, whereas 41 per cent of voters loved the outfit.
BEST DRESSED RUNNER UP: Chanel Iman
Chanel Iman's vibrant Miami Swim Week look came in second place in our poll of best-dressed celebrities over the past week. The 33-year-old model received 23 per cent of the votes from the poll, thanks to her gorgeous multi-coloured asymmetrical gown from Nigerian-Canadian designer Andrea Iyamah.
Iman wore the Turi Mesh Dress at a poolside party the brand held in collaboration with Cîroc Limonata on June 1 at Soho Beach House Miami. The piece's thigh-high slit was offset by one long-sleeve, and a wrap that draped over that arm added a sense of drama — in the best way possible.
Iyamah told Yahoo Canada the designs selected for this event were chosen for both their aesthetic and craftsmanship: "These designs are meant to be statement-makers, yet comfortable and functional. ... Swimwear can inspire bold confidence when it's made to move with you."
A majority of Yahoo Canada readers who voted on Iman's outfit agreed this look was stunning. In our secondary poll, 65 per cent of more than 240 voters said they loved the outfit. That was compared to 17 per cent of those voters who were in the middle, and 18 per cent who weren't necessarily fans.
WORST DRESSED WINNER: Tinashe
Unfortunately, Tinashe's colourful mid-week party look was a miss for a majority of our readers. Out of more than 1,200 votes in our poll, 74 per cent of people voted the "Nasty" singer's outfit as the worst when put up against looks from Emily Ratajkowski, Sofia Carson, Emily Deschanel and Olivia Cooke.
The 31-year-old singer's look included a red, yellow and blue Spotify-branded FC Barcelona Hood Baby jersey with long sleeves featuring black polka dots. She paired the piece with red low-rise micro mini shorts and a pair of silver zip-up boots featuring bag handles, along with a staticky deep red short wig.
The artist, who's currently on a bit of a renaissance, was spotted wearing the look in West Hollywood, Calif., as she exited Craig's restaurant. It was the same night she hosted a Pride kick-off party run by DJ Alex Chapman's Gag and Playboy.
In the secondary poll, more than 260 voters were quite adamant this look wasn't great: 86 per cent of those people skewed towards the "bad" end of that poll. Otherwise, eight per cent were in the middle, and six per cent enjoyed the look.
WORST DRESSED RUNNER UP: Emily Ratajkowski
While Yahoo Canada readers were quite set on the star they decided to crown as this week's worst-dressed celebrity, a small group of people were not fans of Emily Ratajkowski's 2000s-inspired look. Out of more than 1,200 people, 12 per cent voted the model as the worst-dressed celebrity.
The 33-year-old wore a plunging black silk dress over a pair of red trousers for the Gurls Talk Fundraising Gala in London. To accessorize, she wrapped a thin black scarf around her neck, wore open-toe black heels and carried a silver metal Rabanne handbag. She also wore her two "divorce rings," which recently made headlines as a new fashion trend.
In our secondary poll, a majority of 250 voters agreed this look was bad. In that poll, 65 per cent of those people voted that they didn't like this look. Fourteen per cent of people were in the middle, whereas 21 per cent loved the model's outfit.
