This $32.5 Million Caribbean Estate Has Not One But 6 Homes—All With Ocean Views

As far as exclusive Caribbean islands go, Oil Nut Bay is considered one of the most sought-after for homeowners and travelers alike. The pristine 400-acre community, located on the easternmost portion of Virgin Gorda in the British Virgin Islands, offers multi-million residences to purchase, as well as rental options for those seeking an exclusive vacation.  Now, the island’s most expensive villa, called Wings, can be yours for $32.5 million.

Oil Nut Bay has several homesites throughout its 400 acres, and Wings can be found in the Estate Neighborhood of the resort community. The villa’s sellers are William and Marilyn Crawford, third-generation owners of Steelcase, an international furniture manufacturing company. The Crawfords spent 11 years completing the impressive estate, which has a total of 9,513 square feet of living space with seven bedrooms, seven full bathrooms, a powder room, and seven pools. There are six individual one-bedroom “pods” that can sleep up to 18 people. While just a few have rooms with multiple beds (ideal for families with young children), each has its own ensuite bathroom, plunge pool, outdoor shower, sitting room, and kitchenette. The pods are built into the hillside and cascade down the mountain in a tiered pattern.

The Wings villa is inspired by birds, and the pods are named Blue Heron, Kingfisher, Mourning Dove, Osprey, Pelican, and Sandpiper. The seventh “pod” is the commodious communal living spaces cheekily named The Nest. The Nest is centrally located on the grounds and includes the great room, formal dining room, kitchen, and office, as well as a flex space that contains a Murphy bed that acts as the optional seventh bedroom. There’s also a laundry room and chef’s kitchen. The Nest has vaulted, wood-beamed ceilings, floor-to-ceiling windows and doors that open to the outdoor area. The outdoor space is referred to as The Bird Bath, with a massive infinity pool, al fresco dining table, and many spots to lounge. The elevated hillside location means you have endless, uninterrupted ocean views.

The home was designed by Miami-based architect Doug Kulig of OMBI, who is responsible for impressive projects like Le Royal Mansour in Marrakech. The spectacular landscaping was done by Raymond Jungles, a renowned landscape architect who has worked on some of the world’s most impressive hospitality, commercial, and residential projects. He’s known for his one-of-a-kind designs that feature an untamed, naturalistic aesthetic that pays homage to the local landscape. In this particular project, wild tropical foliage is expertly placed around each pod for added privacy and along the winding pathways that meander throughout the property. No matter which villa you’re in, you’re ensconced by vibrant blooming florals, swaying palms, and native leafy plants.

Each structure’s exterior is crafted from large stones and boulders, giving each pod an organic feel, and many feature living green roofs that when seen from above seamlessly blend into the hillside. Inside, each villa has a clean and contemporary aesthetic with travertine and limestone, white walls, a neutral color palette, and wispy curtains. Outfitted with state-of-the-art appliances and technology, the home is primed for modern living but still exudes a sense of place and is filled with bright Caribbean sunlight.
