2024 Grammys: Who was the best and worst dressed on the red carpet? Cast your vote now
The stars took some big fashion swings on the Grammy red carpet — but not many knocked it out of the park.
The 2024 Grammys gave some of the biggest names in music the chance to flex their fashion muscles.
Unlike the Oscars or the Golden Globes, the Grammys are known for having a more lax dress code. Some stars will go full throttle on red carpet glamour, while others will use the occasion to try out something different. Usually, whenever artists opt for something new they land a place in Grammy red carpet infamy — but their looks aren't always a hit with the masses.
We scoured the 2024 Grammys red carpet to find the looks that ticked all the boxes and the ones that strayed from the conventional path. Now we're putting it to a vote —and we're asking Yahoo Canada readers for their help to declare a best and worst dressed star.
Cast your vote in the polls below and come back tomorrow to see who readers voted as the best and worst dressed from the 2024 Grammys.
BEST: Dua Lipa
Lipa wore a custom silver gown by Courrèges that featured a plunging neckline and strategically placed cut outs that showed off the star's curves. The "Dance the Night" singer wore a statement-making fish necklace by Tiffany & Co.
“I feel very strong in it, it’s definitely a heavy, metal dress,” Lipa told reporters. “I feel very Joan of Arc.”
WORST: Miley Cyrus
Before picking up her first Grammy for Best Pop Performance, Cyrus hit the red carpet in a custom look by Maison Margiela. The gladiator-inspired look was made entirely out of safety-pins and styled with a mountain of windswept hair.
Cyrus's look is one that will definitely spawn countless memes and divide opinions, but for us it was undoubtedly a big fashion "no."
BEST: Janelle Monae
Monae brought some much needed glamour to the Grammys red carpet. The singer and Grammy nominee wowed in a sequinned monochrome look by Armani Privé that featured a floral accent made of black and silver crystals.
"I'm feeling classic, timeless, futuristic," Monae told red carpet host Laverne Cox. "I'm standing in Black pride and it's the liquid blackness and in a state of joy. This album was all about joy. And this time around I wanted joy for my people. I'm so happy to be nominated for album of the year."
WORST: Taylor Swift
Speaking ill of Ms. Swift feels sacrilegious and goes against ever fibre of my being. Although Swift is loyal to her team of stylists who have tried their best to create a "Reputation" album-inspired look, this custom Schiaparelli gown and dramatic gloves overwhelms the star and feels incomplete. The hair could have been more purposely styled for the "wet hair look" and the gloves could have been left at home.
BEST: Olivia Rodrigo
The 20-year-old's vintage Versace gown signalled a more mature turn for the "Vampire" singer. The look, which was first worn by Linda Evangelista in 1995, featured ruby sequins and double sequinned spaghetti straps and was accessorized by a large cocktail ring and bold red lip.
WORST: Doja Cat
Doja Cat's Grammy's looks are always a show in and of themself. The "Paint the Town Red" singer opted for a sheer look by Dilara Findikoglu that she accessorized with body art and the designer's name in a faux-tattoo across her forehead. The bizarre look was a swing but a miss for our taste.
BEST: Kelly Clarkson
The "Chemistry" singer wowed in an off-the-shoulder ivory gown that featured a subtle mermaid hem. Clarkson's old Hollywood-inspired glam was the perfect go-to to compliment the elegant gown, which she accessorized with the cutest date, her 7-year-old son, Remy.
WORST: Fantasia Barrino
"The Color Purple" star went for a bold look by Cong Tri that our team felt swallowed the star. From the cowl-neckline to the gloves and the tulle train, this look was one that didn't translate to the red carpet — or show-off Barrino's beauty.
BEST: Halle Bailey
"The Little Mermaid" star hit the red carpet in a glittering Gucci gown that featured a plunging neckline that enhanced her postpartum curves.
The 23-year-old new mom told reporters, "I really love this dress. Gucci made it for me and I feel confident. I’m really excited. I think I was excited to step back and wear form-fitting stuff after pregnancy so it's been really fun."
WORST: Ice Spice
Ice Spice's Baby Phat ensemble was a trip down memory lane — against our will. The denim look was ripped from the early aughts where it should have stayed. From the fur (we're hoping it was faux fur) to the frayed denim train, this look was one that our team didn't love — and we're willing to take the bad "Karma" for saying so.
