Award-winning architect Roney Mateu has put a daring spin on a glass house in Miami with a second-floor swimming pool just off the double-height living room overlooking Biscayne Bay.
The waterfront mansion, nestled within the double-guard-gated Belle Meade Island enclave, has hit the market for just shy of $15 million with Chad Carroll and Spencer Zorn of The Chad Carroll Group at Compass. Built in 2007, the 5,268-square-foot estate offers about 110 feet of water frontage, including a dock with a boat lift for the yachting set.

Altogether, the striking contemporary spread comprises four bedrooms, five full bathrooms, and one half-bath. The private, tropical oasis is punctuated by art both inside and out; think everything from statement-making sculptures on the front lawn to large, colorful paintings hanging on the walls. In terms of the design, the geometric abode is encased in a glass-and-steel frame shell, so you have far-reaching views of the water from every room and tons of natural light. Belle Meade Island, which is on the northern end of Miami’s Upper Estate Side, is a private community that’s become a popular under-the-radar retreat for many high-profile people. Former and current residents include celebrity plastic surgeon Lenny Hochstein—the ex-husband of The Real Housewives of Miami star Lisa Hochstein. Jimmy Buffet’s oldest daughter, Savannah Jane, also owned a four-bedroom home here dubbed Casa Flamingo before selling it in 2021 for $2.85 million. However, the buyer’s agent at the time told Mansion Global she thought the enclave was often overlooked. “There’s more value in that area and it still has a neighborhood feel,” Jade Kalbacher of Compass told the listing site. “Belle Meade Island is even more charming, with extra security. It’s further removed and more quiet.”
