When I roast a turkey, I absolutely have to use some poultry-centric herbs. Unfortunately, fresh herb bundles of sage, rosemary, and thyme often sell out at most of my local grocery stores, and they can be expensive to boot.

So, I’m grateful ALDI has a great poultry seasoning that's incredibly affordable as well. It's called Stonemill Poultry Seasoning.

What I Love About Stonemill Poultry Seasoning

For only $1.19, you get a blend of sage, thyme, rosemary, marjoram, black pepper, and nutmeg. Just open the container, and a beautiful aroma will hit your nose. First, you'll notice the herbal notes of sage, rosemary, and thyme, and then you'll smell the nutmeg, marjoram, and black pepper. It’s heady stuff.

This poultry seasoning blend is definitely going to up my Thanksgiving game this holiday. I have tried it out on both a regular turkey and a turkey breast so far.

For your turkey, I recommend mixing it with butter or olive oil and some sea salt, rubbing it all over the outside of the bird, and then stuffing a few tablespoons under the skin for an absolutely blissful turkey. For a turkey breast, I recommend rubbing olive oil over the breast, then sprinkling the spice blend and salt on top.

This beautiful spice blend isn’t just good for dusting your turkey—it’s also fantastic for gravy and stuffing. Add a teaspoon or so to your gravy, and I recommend at least two teaspoons for your stuffing.

Stonemill Poultry Seasoning

  • Price: $1.19 for a 1.5 ounces container

  • Why I Love It: This seasoning blend adds tons of flavor not just to turkey, but to many Thanksgiving sides as well. It's also useful well beyond Thanksgiving.

One Seasoning Blend, Many Uses

When your turkey dinner is done, save the bones. Add them to a pot, fill it with water, add a few carrots, celery stalks, a chopped-up onion or two, and a teaspoon or two of this poultry seasoning, and make stock. The spice blend will make it sing.

This blend is not just good for turkey. It is perfect for chicken—either the whole bird or just chicken breasts or thighs. For a whole bird, treat it like you would a smaller turkey, using olive oil or butter and the spice blend. Drizzle chicken breasts or thighs with olive oil, then sprinkle with the seasoning blend and salt.

I also think this seasoning blend would be perfect for ducks or duck breasts. If you’re making duck or duck breasts, pair them with a wild rice pilaf and add a half teaspoon of this seasoning to the rice as well.
