Strong Red Wings Forward Not Going Anywhere

The kids are more than alright.

Playing the kids has been a helpful mantra for the Detroit Red Wings. Simon Edvinsson has been tremendous, playing his signature two-way game on the back end.

However, one forward has solidified his position with the big club and should not be sent down anytime soon.

That player is Marco Kasper, of course.

The 20-year-old is making his presence felt in the lineup. His offensive game has shown flashes, with four points in 14 games this season. But his physical play and reliability make the young forward stand out.

Kasper ranks sixth among all Red Wings with 21 hits. Joe Veleno, Ben Chiarot, Christian Fischer, Michael Rasmussen, and Moritz Seider are his only teammates with more hits thrown.

He also pushes back when he is pushed around.

Trevor Zegras and Kasper were skating near each other when Zegras bumped into him. He immediately stops, turns, and begins a back-and-forth shoving match with Zegras.

This is the feisty mentality you like to see young players have.

Not every player on a team can be Patrick Kane, Lucas Raymond, or Dylan Larkin. You must have Michael Rasmussens, Moritz Seiders, and Marco Kaspers to round out your team.

The young Austrian has more than earned a spot on this team. He shouldn't be heading to the AHL anytime soon.
