Raptors' Siakam loses cool, trips Embiid for flagrant foul
Even by playoff standards, tensions ran high in Game 3 of the Toronto Raptors’ second-round series against the Philadelphia 76ers.
Ben Simmons caught Kyle Lowry with an elbow to the groin in the first half, and Pascal Siakam responded with a dirty play of his own in the fourth quarter. After being thwarted by Joel Embiid on a drive to the basket, Siakam retaliated by tripping his countryman as he tried to make his way up the court.
The Raptors’ budding star was assessed a flagrant 1 on the play and quelled any ounce of momentum Toronto had at that point.
Siakam expressed remorse for his actions after the game, saying he meant no harm.
Asked about the trip on Embiid, Siakam seemed very regretful. He said he was frustrated after a non-call but didn't mean to hurt him. "That's my guy."
