How Mario Anderson, Mitch Jeter, Jordan Burch, USC transfers are doing at new schools

The South Carolina football team has lost its share of players to the transfer portal over the last two years. Here is a look at how those transfers have fared at their new schools in the 2024 season.

Players who left after 2023

RB Mario Anderson (Memphis) — Former Stratford High standout has rushed for 683 yards (fourth in American Athletic Conference) and 13 total touchdowns in seven games this season. He had a season-high 183 yards and four touchdowns against North Texas on Oct. 19.

OL JonDarius Morgan (UAB) — Has started all seven games at left tackle for UAB.

OL Jaylen Nichols (Memphis) — Has appeared in seven games at right tackle.

WR Antwane “Juice” Wells Jr. (Ole Miss) — Wells has caught 17 passes for 371 yards and four touchdowns this season. He had three catches for 97 yards against USC on Oct. 5 but didn’t have a catch last week against LSU

WR O’Mega Blake (Charlotte) — Blake has 15 catches for 291 yards and four touchdowns.

WR Zavier Short (Appalachian State) — Has appeared in five games but has not caught a pass this season.

DL Xzavier McLeod (Georgia) — Has played in five games, recording five tackles and two pass break-ups.

DL Felix Hixon (Middle Tennessee) — Has played in six games and has three tackles.

DL D’Andre Martin (Charlotte) — Has seven tackles and one quarterback pressure

DL Donovan Westmoreland (Kennesaw State) — Has played in one game this season.

LB Grayson “Pup” Howard (Florida) — Started all seven games, is tied for third on the team in tackles with 33 and has one sack.

LB Stone Blanton (Mississippi State) — Has played in seven games and is second on the team with 59 tackles, two forced fumbles and two pass break-ups.

DB Kajuan Banks (South Florida) — Has appeared in seven games and has 18 tackles (three for loss), two sacks and two quarterback pressures.

DB Keenan Nelson (Ohio State) — Nelson hasn’t played in a game for the Buckeyes this season.

K Mitch Jeter (Notre Dame) — Jeter is 5 of 7 on field goals with a long of 48 yards and 20-of-20 on extra points this season.

2022 transfers still playing

LS Matthew Bailey (Toledo) — Has only played two games this season and appeared in 14 games last year as the team’s long snapper.

DE Jordan Burch (Oregon) — Burch has missed Oregon’s last two games with a knee injury. Prior to that, the former Hammond School standout had 19 tackles (seven for loss) and five sacks in Ducks’ five games this season. Last year, he had 34.5 tackles (7.5 for loss) and 3.5 sacks and earned Pac-12 honorable mention honors.

QB Jalen Daniels (Norfolk State) — Has played in seven games as the team’s starting QB and is 67 of 121 passing for 831 yards and six touchdowns. He also has rushed for 104 yards and two scores

QB Braden Davis (Syracuse) — Hasn’t played in a game this season and is not listed on the team’s depth chart at quarterback.

OL Jordan Davis (South Alabama) — Has started all seven games this year on the offensive line for South Alabama and made 16 starts in his two seasons.

OL Colin Henrich (Georgia State/ODU) — Transferred to Old Dominion after playing last season at Georgia State. Has yet to play in a game this season at ODU.

DB Joey Hunter (Akron) — Hunter played in all seven games and has eight tackles and one pass break-up. He had one tackle against the Gamecocks on Sept. 21. Last season, he played in eight games, had eight tackles and two pass break-ups.

WR Corey Rucker (Arkansas State) — Rucker leads Arkansas State with 35 catches for 510 yards and three touchdowns. He also led the team in receiving last year with 36 catches for 705 yards and two scores.
