When will Jonathan Taylor return?

The Colts appear to be taking a day-to-day approach with Taylor. He did not practice on Wednesday, but Steichen told reporters the injury is not any more serious than they expected.

Taylor did not practice last week, but did talk with reporters about what he would like to be able to do before returning to the field.

“Really being able to move around,” Taylor told reporters on Thursday, Oct. 3. “Really being able to get in and out of cuts, being able to explode, burst because especially at my position, running back, those are all heavy cutting positions. So that’s the biggest thing.”

He is tied for fifth in the league with four touchdowns, and is also among the top 12 for both carries (72) and yards (349).

Colts' RB depth chart

As of Wednesday, the Colts listed three players as running backs on their depth chart:

  • Jonathan Taylor

  • Trey Sermon

  • Tyler Goodson

Trey Sermon immediately took over in the backfield after Taylor left the game against the Steelers. He would be the first option against the Titans if Taylor is out. Sermon had 10 carries for 38 yards and a touchdown last week against the Jaguars. Tyler Goodson had five carries for 26 yards.

Evan Hull has been on the practice squad all season and saw action in just one game last season as a rookie before suffering a season-ending injury.
