According to The Athletic's Kevin Kurz, the Flyers are "fielding calls" on Ristolainen. However, Kurz also noted that the Flyers are not just looking to dump his salary for no return. In addition, Kurz shared that the Flyers have not yet set a specific asking price for Ristolainen.
Given how well Ristolainen has turned things around in Philly, he should generate plenty of interest as we continue to get closer to the 2025 NHL Trade Deadline. This is because he is a big right-shot defenseman who can handle playing top-four minutes and kills penalties. In addition, his physicality helps raise his appeal, especially when it comes to playoff teams.
Ristolainen would be more than a rental for any team looking to acquire him, as he has a $5.1 million cap hit until the end of the 2026-27 season.
In 18 games so far in 2024-25, Ristolainen has one goal, three points, and 34 hits.
