BEST BET: Mysterious Line Emerges From Sunday's Clash Between Predators and Canucks

We have just eight teams in action tonight, but I am intrigued by the four-game slate, with value surrounding one game in particular.

I'll be in attendance for the Vegas-Washington game, as it's the return of Logan Thompson, who is expected to start against his former team. The Golden Knights return from a short trip that culminated with a win in Salt Lake City.

But the game that has my attention is the Nashville Predators and Vancouver Canucks, as this Western Conference showdown has a mysteriously low price.

Let's do a deep dive into this one:

WHY NASHVILLE: The Predators are much better than their record indicates. I think we all can agree this is not a last-place team by any means, as they're a far cry from a team that should be losing 13 of its first 18 games. Perhaps the offseason grabs of Steven Stamkos and Jonathan Marchessault meant chemistry had to be found, and there's no doubt these guys play pivotal roles. In fact, Marchessault has recorded 24 points (11 goals, 13 assists) in 22 career games against Vancouver, tied for the fourth-most points he's recorded against a single franchise in his career.

WHY VANCOUVER: The Canucks have been very good in this series of late, bringing a 6-2-2 run into this matchup, including a 4-0-1 run more recently. And when you consider Elias Pettersson has 18 points (10 goals, 8 assists) in 15 career games against the Preds, you can see why a game on home ice plays in his favor tonight.

THE PICK - CANUCKS -125: Since opening the season with three straight losses, the Canucks have won nine of their last 13 games to climb into third place in the Pacific Division. During that run since Oct. 17, the Canucks are tied for fourth with 19 points while they rank ninth in allowing just 2.85 goals per game. Back to Pettersson, as he's registered five points (3 goals, 2 assists) in his last four games, so his hot hand combined with his history against the Preds is helpful. Also playing well of late is Quinn Hughes, who has nine points (1 goal, 8 assists) in seven games this month, second-most amongst NHL defensemen. Bad spot for the Predators, who have lost three straight and will be playing their fourth road game in seven nights, during a five-game trip. This is also Nashville's sixth road game in 12 nights, with a sandwich-home game on Nov. 9. The Preds have lost six of seven, including five straight on the road. All Vancouver tonight.
