Nihon Hidankyo, a grassroots Japanese organization of atomic bomb survivors, has been awarded this year’s Nobel Peace Prize for their decades-long activism against nuclear weapons. The Norwegian Nobel Committee recognized the group “for its efforts to achieve a world free of nuclear weapons and for demonstrating through witness testimony that nuclear weapons must never be used again.” About the group: Formed in 1956, Nihon Hidankyo, also known as the Hibakusha, represents survivors of the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki who have dedicated their lives to advocating for nuclear disarmament.
Sean "Diddy" Combs has been hit by a new batch of lawsuits accusing him of sexual assault against six people, including a 16-year-old boy. The new wave of lawsuits filed on Monday accuses Combs, sometimes called P Diddy, of raping women, sexually assaulting men and molesting the boy. All were filed anonymously - two by women identified as Jane Does and four by men identified as John Does.
EU environment ministers agreed on the bloc's negotiating position ahead of the COP 29 United Nations climate summit in Azerbaijan next month, a council statement said. Negotiators will meet in Baku Nov. 11-22 to discuss a new climate financing goal to replace wealthy nations' current commitment to provide $100 billion a year to developing countries. Ministers met in Luxembourg on Monday to hash out the final version of their position.
