Prey's Amber Midthunder lands next lead movie role
Prey actor Amber Midthunder has landed her next lead movie role, starring alongside Reacher's Alan Ritchson.
As reported by Deadline, the duo will front Painter, an action flick centred on a young woman with a very particular skillset who must use said skills to rescue her kidnapped father.
John Wick's Derek Kolstad has written the script, while Logan and Avatar stunt co-ordinator turned first-time director Garrett Warren is helming the project. The publication notes that there are hopes for it to kickstart a new action movie franchise.

Drew Simon, the President of Production at production company Infrared said in a statement that: "Painter will be a seminal action hero film, making Midthunder into this generation’s Sarah Connor (from the Terminator series).
"We loved Kolstad's high-octane script, and we know with Garrett Warren at the helm this film will kickstart an exciting new franchise in the world of action."
The film will be looking for a buyer at the American Film Market, taking place over the next few days.
Meanwhile, Infrared's first film Novocaine, which also stars Midthunder alongside Jack Quaid, is due for release in March next year.

Ritchson has been announced for two new projects in the last month alone. First of all, he's been cast in romantic movie Counting Miracles, an adaptation of Nicholas Sparks' book of the same name.
Just a few weeks later, he was confirmed for action-thriller Runner, with Expendables 4 filmmaker Scott Waugh on board to direct.
Meanwhile, his Netflix movie War Machine (which also stars Jack Quaid's dad Dennis) began production in September.
It's safe to say he's a pretty busy man.
