U.N. agencies have long warned that it could take decades to rebuild Gaza after Israel's offensive against Hamas, one of the deadliest and most destructive military campaigns since World War II. The U.N. Conference on Trade and Development said in a report released Monday that if the war ends tomorrow and Gaza returns to the status quo before Hamas' Oct. 7, 2023, attack on Israel, it could take 350 years for its battered economy to return to its precarious prewar level. Before the war, Gaza was under an Israeli and Egyptian blockade imposed after Hamas seized power in 2007.

Israeli forces bombarded southern Lebanon’s al-Hosh area on Tuesday, October 22, Lebanon’s National News Agency reported.Footage released by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) shows an explosion in the al-Hosh area of southern Lebanon, southeast of Tyre. In the video, a second explosion can be seen several seconds after the first.The IDF said its air force attacked “about ten command and control complexes of various [Hezbollah] military units,” including the headquarters of the Radwan Force, Hezbollah’s special operation forces unit.Prior to releasing the footage of the attack, IDF Arabic-language spokesperson Avichay Adraee published a warning to al-Hosh residents, telling them to evacuate. The ECB last week said that price pressures may be lower than it had predicted earlier and market economists argue that inflation is already at or near target, even as interest rates remain high enough to constrain the economy.
