Everyone onboard a tour bus, 28 people, were hospitalized after it tipped over while negotiating a turn on Interstate 490 between Rochester and Niagara Falls. A massive response from authorities shut down the interstate, which remained closed after at least 18 ambulances on the scene took the victims, which include the bus driver, to hospitals for treatment.

The crash happened at about 7 am this morning after the driver dropped some passengers off in Rochester. At least one child was on board the tour bus, reports local news station WROC. One victim is in critical condition.

Thankfully, most of the bus occupants suffered only minor injuries. We can only imagine how scary the crash and its aftermath had to be for everyone involved, especially anyone who was asleep at the time.

In fact, the first emergency workers to arrive on the scene found victims wandering on the interstate in a state of shock and confusion.

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the cause of the accident. Initially, the sheriff said drugs and alcohol aren’t believed to be a factor in the crash. WROC says while no cause has been determined yet, the investigation is being conducted as if it were a criminal case, even though there’s no belief that a crime was in fact committed.

In other words, this appears to have been just an accident. Unfortunately, that’s a part of traveling in vehicles, even with all the advanced technology we have in modern times.

Departing from New York City after midnight, the tour bus was dropping off passengers along its predetermined route to Niagara Falls. Instead of enjoying the popular tourist destination, the bus occupants are now staying in hospital rooms as they recover from their injuries.
