It’s a known fact that listening to Free Bird by Lynyrd Skynyrd during a chase will make you both impervious to harm and outrun your pursuers. While this tactic has been used by some criminals fleeing police, two armored truck personnel have also demonstrated the principle when they were ambushed by multiple attackers.

Watch a C7 Corvette jump into a supercar rally.

We’re talking, of course, about the famous incident that unfolded in South Africa back in 2021. You might have seen the footage of the interior of the armored truck as the two men work to evade their attackers, bullets impacting on the reinforced windows as one keeps his cool and the other looks like he should’ve worn the brown pants that day.

Someone hilariously has set that footage to Free Bird and it just fits so incredibly well, almost like the song was made for the chase. In fact, it very well might have been.

The chase itself is intense. You can tell the driver is an experienced security professional who’s thankfully behind the wheel. He’s honed in on not getting trapped, whipping the armored truck loaded with cash around repeatedly keeping the armed thieves from trapping their quarry.

As for the other guy, well it looks like it’s his first day on the job and he doesn’t know what to do. The other man tries giving him direction as he can, but this attention is consumed by trying to keep them both alive.

Just like people have pointed out in the comments, the driver looks more like an accountant than a security professional. He’s also an older man in a dangerous line of work, both clear signs he’s not to be messed with. He truly is a Free Bird and couldn’t be caged by armed thieves.
