  • The Rolls-Royce Spectre Lunaflair is a one-off commission with a dazzling paint job.

  • Rolls-Royce says the Lunaflair's holographic paint, which creates a rainbow effect, took more than a year to make.

  • The Spectre's illuminated interior elements mimic a starry sky, and the Lunaflair's custom color scheme mixes Navy Blue, Peony Pink, and White.

Stephenie Meyer, who made her fortune writing the Twilight saga, may or may not be the person who commissioned this lunar-themed Rolls-Royce Spectre. It's dubbed the Lunaflair, and Rolls-Royce says the one-off special was crafted for a "significant" client who lives in the United States, so it could be any of a number of really rich people.

The Lunaflair's defining feature is its holographic paint job, which Rolls says took more than a year of experimentation to develop. The final product includes seven layers of lacquer with a unique pearlescent coat and an infusion of fine flakes. All of that results in an eye-catching rainbow effect in direct sunlight and a deep metallic effect in low-light scenarios.

This specially commissioned Spectre's interior mimics its night-sky exterior. Its headliner and door panels are illuminated to look like stars twinkling in the dark—a feature that's shared with more traditional models—but the Lunaflair also has a bespoke color scheme. Since the car's theme was inspired by the lunar halo, which creates a colorful ring around the moon, the cabin is covered in Navy Blue, White, and Peony Pink.

While we don't know how much this one-off Rolls-Royce Spectre costs, there's no doubt it's a lot, as the coupe with two coach doors starts around a princely $423,000. Underneath its stately shell is a mighty dual-motor electric powertrain that generates 577 horsepower. Its estimated driving range is as much as 291 miles, which is only 238,609 miles from the moon.
