GM Reassigns Sports Car Racing Program Manager Laura Wontrop Klauser
Laura Wontrop Klauser, who has served in the role of General Motors Sports Car Racing Program Manager, is moving back to the production side at GM.
The move is one of several reassignments announced today that are part of GM's "why we race" mission. Team members at GM often rotate between racing and production assignments—taking their experiences and leadership skills learned from the track and applying them to the production side.
Klauser was named program manager on the sports car side at GM in 2019 when she replaced long-time manger Doug Fehan. Klauser oversaw both the Cadillac Racing GTP and Corvette GT3 programs.
Klauser is moving from racing to the Global Hardware Systems and Integration Team as Engineering Group Leader.
Assuming many of Klauser's duties on the racing side will be Keely Bosn and Jessica Dane.
Bosn is currently Future Tech & Mobility Planning Manager in the Competitor Intelligence, Technology and Mobility Planning organization at GM. She will join GM Motorsports as the Cadillac Racing Program Manager.
Dane, who is currently the Motorsports Integration Manager in GM Motorsports, will become the Corvette Racing Program Manager for Corvette GT3 programs.
Bosn and Dane will work with Mark Stielow, Director Motorsport Competition Engineering.
Christie Bagne, current Corvette Z06 GT3.R Program Manager, will transition to Corporate Strategy as a senior analyst.
The current round of rotations will take affect at the conclusion of the 2024 season. The IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season wrapped up Oct. 12 at Road Atlanta and Petit Le Mans. GM highlights in IMSA this season included Cadillac's runner-up season finish to Porsche in the GTP manufacturer standings and a third-place finish in the GTD Pro class season standings for Corvette Racing.
A highlight for GM racing under Klauser's watch was 2023 at Le Mans, where Cadillac scored an overall podium finish for one of its Cadillac V-Series.R prototypes and a class victory in GTE-AM with the factory Chevrolet Corvette. The 2023 race also saw a successful run for GM and NASCAR with the NASCAR Chevrolet Camero's Garage 56 entry.
GM fields a pair of Corvette Z06 GT3.Rs in the World Endurance Championship, which wraps up its season this weekend with the 8 Hours of Bahrain.
