  • Mattel, the parent company of Hot Wheels, announced a new multi-year partnership with Formula 1 today.

  • There will be a full range of F1 cars in 1:64 scale next year, following a unique Hot Wheels–branded car coming before the end of 2024.

  • Hot Wheels will also be present at select Formula 1 races in 2025 with fan activations.

If you're anything like us, you have an ever-growing collection of die-cast cars, a sort of virtual garage for all the cars that you wish you could own but will never be even close to wealthy enough to afford. There's also a strong chance that at least some of your collection consists of Hot Wheels, since the company claims it has sold more than eight billion toy cars over the past 50 years. Now there is going to be a new Hot Wheels model to add to your hoard, with parent company Mattel and Formula 1 announcing a global licensing partnership today.

The partnership will see Formula 1 cars created in 1:64 scale, the most common size for Hot Wheels models. The first vehicle from this new range, an F1 car featuring a special Hot Wheels–branded livery, is available for preorder now and will ship next year. The paint job is white and gray with red accents and a large Hot Wheels logo plastered on the side pods and rear wing, plus F1 logos on the nose, front wing, and air box. Hot Wheels says that the toy will have a full-metal body chassis and interchangeable tires, and the number 68 emblazoned on the side is a reference to the year Hot Wheels was created.

This initial launch will be followed by a full range of cars in 2025, with the liveries of F1 teams. The two companies say that there will be products to appeal to both children and adult collectors alike. No other details were available about the full lineup of F1 Hot Wheels cars.

Hot Wheels will also have a presence at select Formula 1 races in 2025, with activations to get fans involved as well as the opportunity to purchase the models. We look forward to checking out the new models in person soon and, most likely, walking out of our local department store with our wallets feeling a few dollars lighter.
