  • Ferrari just revealed its new super/hypercar, the 2026 F80.

  • The flat, red screamer makes almost 1,200 hp, gets to 60 in 2.2 seconds.

  • No price was listed, but speculation has it at $3.1 million to $3.9 million.

Just two weeks after McLaren announced its W1 hypercar, Ferrari unleashed news of its 2026 F80, and the fight is on!

The F80 will make over 1,200 CV, or 1,184 hp, from its V6 hybrid powertrain, making it the most powerful road car to ever roll out the doors at Maranello, Ferrari says.

It might be pure coincidence that Maranello is releasing a full ledger of information on the 2026 model just two weeks after McLaren revealed details of its W1, which will be the successor to the McLaren P1 hypercar. Now all we need is for Porsche to announce a successor to the 918 and we will have 2013 all over again, when the 918, P1, and La Ferrari all did battle among the world’s car-conscious elites. Porsche did show its Mission X last year, so maybe all will be right with the hypercar world soon. Now we can also toss in the Aston Martin Valkyrie, Mercedes-AMG One, Bugatti Tourbillon, Lotus Evija, Rimac Nevera and Pininfarina Battista into the hypercar mix.

As for the F80, look for 799 examples to be made (why not 800 for an F80?). The goal of the car is not race-car performance at any cost, but to create “a track-oriented supercar that’s just as drivable as a production range model.”

The V6 hybrid is meant to emulate the powertrains found in F1 and WEC. This one has a 3.0-liter 120-degree V6 making 888 SAE hp. That ICE unit is supplemented with three 800-volt electric motors, one for each front wheel allowing torque vectoring and a third electric motor mounted at the rear. All three combined make 296 SAE hp.

The twin turbochargers on the V6 are electrically assisted to reduce turbo lag, with the electric motors for that purpose mounted between the turbine and the compressor. Fuel is fed into the V6 via GDI or gasoline direct injection at 4351 psi directly into the top center of the combustion chamber. Con rods are titanium, of course, while pistons are aluminum. As in the 296 GTB, the advantage of the 120-V is a lower center of gravity.

Outside, the F80 takes aerodynamics into new territory, with a total of 2,200 pounds of downforce at 150 mph. The front end aero was inspired by F1 and WC, Ferrari says, while the undertray aero adds almost 100 pounds on its own. The complex rear wing diffuser accounts for the rest. The active rear wing automatically adjusts, too, allowing for high performance at various road speeds.

The car rides on an active suspension system Ferrari says was reengineered from the one on the Purosangue, activated via a 48-volt system. Double wishbones ride at each corner with inboard-mounted shocks.

The powertrain can be set to Hybrid, Performance, or Qualifying modes depending on the demand of the driver. CCM-R Plus technology carbon ceramic brakes from Brembo stop the car. Buyers can chose either Michelin Pilot Sport Cup2 or Pilot Sport Cup2R tires, both offered in 285/30R-20 and 345/30R-21 (front/rear) sizes. Both were co-developed with Michelin for the F80.

The tub and roof of the car is made from carbon fiber while the front and rear subframes are made of aluminum bolted on with titanium screws. The body of the car is carbon fiber baked in an autoclave just like an F1 body.

Inside, once you flip up the butterfly doors, you’ll see two seats instead of three, with Ferrari calling the layout 1+.

“While ergonomically complete and comfortable, the passenger seat is so well integrated into the trim of the cabin that it almost disappears from view,” says Ferrari. So take that, passenger.

Look for the F80 to go on sale in early 2026, which will give you plenty of time to come up with the estimated $3.1 million to $3.9 million sticker price.
