Car theft is so bad in Los Angeles, even former NFL wide receiver DeSean Jackson has fallen victim, his 2023 Dodge Challenger Hellcat going missing from his house in Los Angeles. While police have been on the hunt for the high-powered muscle car, it appears to have disappeared into thin air like so many others.

New England Patriots’ Christian Barmore calls cops racist after traffic stop.

Just like how Jackson performed on the football field as a professional athlete, the Hellcat is incredibly fast. With that explosive speed, a talented driver could outrun police. However, the thieves who stole this particular Mopar won’t need to worry about that.

According to TMZ Sports, the theft was discovered on the morning of October 15. After calling police to report the crime, they were able to track the Dodge’s location using the factory GPS system until it was about 30 miles outside of Los Angeles.

The signal went dead, likely because the thieves disabled the GPS. Many criminals know exactly where the factory systems are and how to take them offline, keeping the police from showing up at a chop shop or wherever the theft rings keep their stolen vehicles.

So for now, Jackson is either driving another one of his rides or borrowing someone else’s vehicle. While we hope his Hellcat is found, there’s not a lot of hope it will be, at least in one piece.

This just goes to show car theft doesn’t just affect regular folk, even the rich and famous, from former professional athletes to movie stars and politicians, can also fall victim to the trend.

Considering how these thieves disabled the factory-installed GPS in DeSean Jackson’s Dodge Challenger Hellcat, this is a good time for a reminder to also use an aftermarket solution. It can be a full-blown GPS unit or something as simple as an Apple AirTag, allowing police to find your ride if it should ever be taken.
