Yahoo Autos Bystander Films Shocking Minivan Hit-And-Run

Shocking footage of the aftermath of a hit-and-run accident on I-5 in Seattle shows a battered minivan being flogged to death as the driver desperately flees. If it weren’t for the video, nobody would believe just how badly damaged the Dodge Grand Caravan was or that the suspect fled at high speeds like that.
Here’s why you shouldn’t walk away from a car crash.
You can see in a report from Fox 13 that the minivan sustained heavy front-end damage in the crash. Not only is the front fascia cracked and coming apart, including the bumper cover hanging loose off the passenger-side of the front end, it’s obvious the front passenger-side axle is broken.
With the front wheel pointing at a sick angle, you can hear in the footage the tire just grinding on the pavement as the suspect absolutely flogs the Dodge, somehow keeping it at around normal highway speeds.
Unsurprisingly, the driver’s efforts are rewarded with plenty of smoke billowing from the damaged vehicle. As they say, where there’s smoke there’s fire and sure enough, flames start licking up from the chassis.
Still, the suspect driver keeps pushing the Grand Caravan like it’s stolen, and maybe it was. The price of not heeding the smoke, fire, and screeching rubber is the front end starts coming apart at the seams.
We can’t imagine what kind of mental state you would have to be in to push your vehicle this far. Does the driver have warrants? Was the minivan loaded with tons of drugs? Why else would this person not stick around at the scene of the crash, preferring instead to destroy the minivan?
According to the report, the guy who filmed the getaway says the suspect drove all the way to his house, then ditched the vehicle there, taking off on a bike. Did he seriously think police wouldn’t figure out what happened?
We’ve never seen anything quite like this, it’s just so bizarre.
