Yahoo Autos Big Truck Makes Big Off-Roading Mistake

Hilarious footage shows a Ram 2500 Power Wagon try going down a rocky slope somewhere in the Southwestern United States only to run into a bit of a problem. But not everyone thinks the Ram driver did something foolish, showing people view off-roading quite differently.

The video was posted on Instagram and Facebook by account jeepguysonline. They’re obviously fans of short wheelbase rigs with nice approach and departure angles. So when the Power Wagon, which is a big truck with quite the rear overhang, goes down the rocky slope and gets a little hung up, they ask the obvious question: why?
After all, as the account points out, a Ram 2500 is a big truck to take on a steep trail. They’re not exactly known for being agile or having good angles all around for rock crawling and such. It’s not really a shock this one gets stuck for a split second, although it appears to come free quickly.
Perhaps the answer is in what goes flying out of the cooler and into the truck’s bed in the video, as some have pointed out. Perhaps that’s beer, White Claws, or some other alcoholic beverage people think consuming before driving on a trail is no big deal. That could’ve influenced this decision.
Others seem to think it’s a dumb question, pointing out the Power Wagon was made for off-roading. After all, from the factory the thing has a winch in the front bumper, 35-inch tires, and lockers. Apparently to them that means it can do anything.
A Ford Raptor is an off-road truck, but we don’t think it’s appropriate for rock crawling because it wasn’t designed for that kind of activity. You’ll likely get yours stuck if not roll it if you try, so we don’t recommend it. After all, there are different kinds of off-road activities and off-road vehicles.
Thankfully, this Ram 2500 Power Wagon doesn’t get stuck or flip. But we wonder if the driver learned his lesson that day.
