The New 1982 Civic Too Thirsty? Here’s a Thriftier Honda for You!
The most-produced motor vehicle in human history is the Honda Super Cub step-through motorcycle, full stop (the Flying Pigeon bicycle is the most-produced vehicle in history, in case you were wondering).
The Super Cub went on sale in the United States soon after its 1958 debut, though Honda couldn't use its JDM name here due to Piper Aircraft having grabbed the name already. At first, it was just "the Honda" and then became the Passport. Here's a magazine advertisement for the 1982 Passport C70, which had an MSRP of less than 1/6 the price of the cheapest possible 1982 Civic. Just the thing for the era of stagflation and gas lines!
I own a 1980 Passport C70, which will receive JDM Super Cub badging one of these days, and it's the ideal race event pit vehicle. Do you really need double-digit horsepower?
